Trapped moisture and ruined Smart Jack
I bought this cover because Lippert recently recalled their Smart Jack citing that moisture can get trapped under the touchpad and cause the jack to malfunction. Although I never covered my original Smart Jack and it never appeared to have any issues, it was replaced under the recall for safety. I really wanted to protect my new Smart Jack from the elements and because of the moisture concern, so I purchased this cover. Unfortunately, I found that this cover does more damage to the Lippert Smart Jack than good. This cover actually ruined my new Smart Jack and caused the very problem I intended to avoid. The first time the cover was used in the rain, I went out to see how it held up and I found that moisture had developed inside the cover and was sitting on my jack's touchpad. Of course, this was a concern because of the issues with the Smart Jack's touchpad that prompted the safety recall. I removed the cover and let it air out completely before placing it back over my jack. I removed the cover after every time it rained to let it air out (which became quite a chore), but one time it rained unexpectedly while I was away and I was not able to get to my trailer until the following week. By this time my nice, new jack was ruined. Condensation was trapped under the cover and moisture had developed under the jack's touchpad. To make matters worse, I found the zipper had broken. Luckily, Lippert sent me another new Smart Jack but this time I won't be using a cover with it. This is a very nice looking cover but a very poor design for the Smart Jack which is already prone to moisture issues.

This is a very impressive cover but.....
The cover is indeed clever and very well made. However, here is the thing that bothers me. There was a note enclosed with the cover stating not to tow with the cover in place. We, as all campers do, occasionally pull our trailer in heavy rain. One of the reasons that I bought this Clever Cover was to protect the electric jack from adverse weather conditions. Why would the manufacturer include this note?

Well thought out protection
I used to use a 5gal bucket. It did work but this is much more appealing.I really like the fact that it has a pocket for the 7pin to keep it dry. I ended up trying a knot in the string to keep it from being difficult to access.I also really like the fact that there are chain hooks as well. This helps to hold it down and keep it from blowing away. I wish the strap that held the chains went all the way over the top as I see the weight of the chains eventually pulling the top off this but time will tell. It is holding up well so far but we will see how well it does after 6mo of summer sun.I have not really had a problem with my Jack being out in the weather but they are not IP rated and the camera failed in 2 years so I could see the Jack failing. I have seen hand crank Jack's fail in 5 yrs so mechanical could have similar problems and covering makes sense. This has a zipper for easy on/off and what appears to be a location for a lock? The whole thing appears well thought out. Durability will show the real long term value. I will update at a later date for true durability adding or removing stars accordingly.Edited 2/8/21: still holding up well.

How have I only just found this?!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I received the clever cover as an early Father’s Day gift and I love it. One product that solves several of my travel trailer needs.I like that it is a custom fit for my jack only and doesn’t look like an oversized bag. Now everything is organized, chains are up from the ground, electrical plug hidden in a small pouch away from the rain and there is even a window around the controls so everything is fully accessible while the cover is on the jack. I basicslly never need to remove it.Bottom line, looks great, made well and very functional.

Well designed product that keeps RV connections organized
I had tried a previous product from Amazon to protect the 7-pin connector when my trailer was stored outside (Fastway 82-00-3315 7 Way Plug Cover) and it failed miserably. It let water enter the connector pins and corrode the metal.I found the Clever Cover while trying to find a better solution. Not only does the Clever Cover protect the electrical connector intelligently (by holding it upright and completely covered by a waterproof material), but it has the added benefit of keeping the chains off the trailer frame, and protecting the tongue jack.My tongue jack is an OEM jack from Forest River and not one of the many brands that the Clever Cover is custom made for. After contacting Trailershphere I got great help from the owner who identified a cover that should fit based on my jack dimensions. As you can see in the picture it fits perfectly, allowing operation of the tongue jack and light through the clear part of the cover. I've used the Clever Cover for a while now and it is a very well made and well designed product. It protects multiple components on the trailer tongue against rain and condensation.I would highly recommend the product and company for providing excellent customer service.

High quality cover with many thoughtful features
This is one of those great accessories that makes camping life all that much easier. For a while now I've been looking for a replacement for my old Home-Depot bucket-as-a-jack-cover solution. I stumbled across this one and so far it checks all the boxes. The material and stitches are really high quality and so far seems to withstand the pacific NW whether. The fit is pretty spot-on and you don't really need to ever take it off since the see-through panel allows easy jack operation. It got a couple of metal rings which act as chains hangers so I don't have to worry about them dragging and getting muddy.Overall, this is a great buy and definitely worth recommending.
