Great book however.....
I'm a Taekwondo student in my early 30's and was looking for a nutritiion book that's geared more towards martial arts. I wanted to improve my body fat % from 12% to below 10%. This is a great book and a must have. I devoured the book in 4 days (I'm a very slow reader, it could've taken much longer hadn't I enjoyed it) including time to do the math and go through the very interesting calculations that were fun at least to me.However, 4 issues jumped at me after finishing reading the book:1- Like I said, I enjoyed the math part. Not sure if this will be as much amusing as I thought it was to others. In other words, the book is not (and it never claimed to be) one of those simple diet books where you don't need to worry about doing the math for your caloric intake and such. This books does the math for EVERYTHING; caloric intake, how much from each source of energy, when to eat, the right combination of sources of energy, heart zones, even water or fluid intake.2- The book seems to be a little dated in some areas. For instance, in all the diet templates provided (which by the way were awesome) egg whites seems to substitute whole eggs, in other words, yolk was neglected even though it's loaded with much of the minerals and vitamis that the book advises athletes should make sure they get...which leads me to my 3rd point..3- Supplements: No healing answer to the painful question of supplements. The author seems to be confused about that issue herself and she kinda admits to that when she asks the reader to do the research themselves. But I'd have liked to see at least an answer to the question: Could we do at all without supplements?4- Coaches anecdotes towards the end of the book: I don't know about others, but I don't really appreciate guru-type advices about healthy living and nutrition from overweight, unhealthy looking gurus who contradicted themselves in more than one spot. I'm not even sure what was the point of incorporating that chapter in the book. The testimonials chapter where the author gave examples from real life individuals from here client base and the last chapter about real life athletes such as Amir Khan were interesting reads. All in all, I still think it's a great book and I think she did a great job with it. Aptitude for math/analytics might be necessary. I'll be updating my review after 2 months of making the suggested ajustments in my diet.P.S.: I don't know why it shows that I'm from Mongolia. I'm actually from Minnesota :-)

Best book on nutrition for anyone
I hate nutrition books. Every one of them I have read comes complete with a full list of "shall" and "shall-nots," a dozen recipes for meals I would never eat that contain stuff I can't find, and advice that is specific to the author's personal opinions and experiences.Thank goodness for Teri Tom. I bought this book out of pure desperation for something, ANYTHING, that I could actually implement. I didn't know it would put me on the most effective path to good nutrition tailored to my lifestyle, my activities, and my schedule. It doesn't matter that I'm not a kickboxer or an MMA practitioner. I can take the principles in this book and customize a program that allows me to live my way and not be forced to either emulate the author or fail horribly. What this means to you is that you should read this book and use it, starting right now. It will get you on the right track immediately, without requiring you to drink oil for breakfast or eat beans six days a week (yeah that's a jab at you, Tim Ferriss. Teri could whip your butt and you know it!). You learn to adapt, so you can eat in or eat out and still find something that fits your lifestyle plan, gets you the nutrition you need, and keeps your energy levels where they need to be for whatever situation you're in.This is the best book on the topic of feeding yourself, period. I will be shoving my personal results in the face of everyone who swears by their idiotic diets for the rest of my life, and I'll love every minute of it. Thanks Teri!

Excellent full of easy to digest info.
I am close to turning 40 and I’m starting to get serious about my nutrition, I’ve been exercising for two years now and I feel I haven’t improved as much as I should have and I’m blaming it on my diet. This book was an excellent starting point, giving me a solid foundation on what to build on. Easy to read. Some of the links she provides are not working anymore, hopefully she can come out with a revised version.

A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE
I am a martial arts practitioner for twenty years.Throughout those years I have trained regularly ,cardio and weight training exercises and of course the martial arts. The one area I've never given much thought to was nutrition,go figure.I have always been a junk food junky,to me it was alright because while I was young I had no problem maintaining weight and kept in really good shape. I am now 52 years old and finding it terribly hard to keep the weight off.Being a long time fan of Teri Tom,I decided to buy her book on nutrition.I wasn't amazed at how dynamic Teri presents her information because I have also read her other books on JKD (The Straight Lead and Jeet Kune Do The Arsenal of Self Expression) but on just how much information is in the book.I had no idea that nutrition was so involved.I have learned so much. After reading the book I didn't just go on a diet but I have had a life changing experience.Teri has taught me that proper nutrition is a way of life.So forget the diet ,forget the fads, buy Martial Arts Nutrition by Teri Tom and find out how proper nutrition will lead you to a more healthy and satisfying life style...P.S you don't have to be a martial artist, healthy eating habits benefit everyone.Thank You Teri, cant wait for your next book.Pat G

Nutrition
i like this book becasue for years I have training in health movement practices and the martial arts and nutrition has always been a bit of a grey area. This book seems to have provided a comprehensive introduction in a pratical fasion, whcih is exactly what i was looking for.
