Barber Electronic Gain Changer Overdrive

I have been playing music for over 20 years. This is my favorite OD and one of my top 5 all-time pedals. I could easily put six of these on my board and dial them in. It's frustrating that you can't try these out in many shops, but this purchase is worth the gamble. I put this right next to me OCD. My OCD went from being my go-to OD to being by rock-distortion. When I really want hi-gain, while still hearing my precise notes, I kick on the GC and OCD at the same time. The sound is golden. I use a strat or tele through a single-channel all-tube (EL34) point-to-point wired amp. I have never put humbuckers in front of this setup, but I'm sure it would sound delicious. Get this pedal. Chances are nobody else around will have one and you will be the king of tone.

Decent pedal, not my favorite but does many jobs. I use it as a saturation boost for solos. I have all the barbers LTD silver direct drive, this was small so I got it and use it regularly.

Barber makes some of the best bang for your money pedals, and they work the way you would hope, and then some. The Gain Changer does what is described, and when stepped on, it delivers with my rig, a Soldano HR 50 into a Marshall 2-12 cab and my LP, oh yeah, the good stuff there.

This is one exceptionally good pedal. I've only had mine a few days, but it's already my favorite overdrive. Excellent tone and very versatile. I own several well known name brand pedals and the Gain Changer can run with the best of them.

I thought I'd give try because of the extra tonal options (compared to my Fulltone OCD). First thing I noticed was how lite it was compared to the OCD, but with that said I think it could stay on a pedal board for many years with no problems. I mostly use overdrive pedals as a boost to my lead channel, as I like amp distortion better than pedal distortion, or just use the pedal for alittle grit on the clean channel. Now maybe I've gotten so use the OCD, but the Gain Changer just lacks alittle dimension and warmth and it does color your tone a bit. Everything about sound is subjective, what sounds good on my rig, might not be right for you. Will I keep the Gain Changer ? - at this moment I'd say no, but I will give alittle more time to see if it can change my ears

Awesome quality & sound. Barber is the best when it comes to effects pedals. Nice warm analog overdrive but with clearity to hear every note.
