Sinometer BT558 Self-powered Battery Tester
Firstly you should this is the third purchase of the same exact item. The item is just that good of a product, The first purchase of one item was nearly a year ago. It works so well that I bought two more. The battery tester will test 9 volt, AAA, AA, C , D batteries, if the needle goes into the green it is good, yellow it is weak, and red it is totally out of power. Bought two more as a gift for a friend and another for a gift to my brother. It will save you money, when you place two or more batteries into an electronic device it often will drain power from one ore two batteries more than than the others. So when the device does not function correctly anymore than pull the batteries out and test each one, one at a time, Then get rid of any that have no power left in them, If there is four C batteries needed three or two will still power in them enough to run the device correctly so all you have to do is just replace the dead ones. It will save you money from having to replace all batteries to get the device back working. This is saving me money every month, due to not throwing out good batteries at all, now that I have and use this battery tester. Easy to use and the reading is very easy to read. Really you can not go wrong with owning this money saving battery tester.

hard to find
had misplaced my little, inexpensive battery tester. seems that it is hard to find a battery tester that doesnt run on batteries. this one is self powered like my old one- which i later found- and inexpensive. i have had my other self powered tester for over 20yrs and it still workd perfectly and am sure this will do the same

Great Gadget
This is a simple, almost foolproof device. You open the arm to touch the contacts to the battery and look at the meter. Green is good, red is bad. There are two contacts on the side for 9V batteries. The arm is configured so coin batteries can be tested too. It takes just a few seconds to test almost any kind of battery. This device worked great. Although it's not a true "load test" it will certainly sort the live from the dead. I was able to go through dozens of batteries in just a few minutes.I recycle dead batteries which means they accumulate until I get around to dropping them off. Nobody grabs the loose batteries out of the drawer because they don't know which ones are alive or dead. I accumulated a few dozen batteries and really needed a way to sort them out. All done! It's hard to complain about a $6 device, but since you've read this far I figure you might be interested. I had to wiggle the 9V batteries to make contact. It still works, but you have to be careful lest you discard some good 9Vs.Given the cost of batteries, this is a great investment.

great to have
doesn’t need batteries to use. now i know which batteries to throw out and which ones to keep. works great - even on 9V

It's really dumb not to have a tester like this unless you keep a multi-meter on your coffee table!
I only chose this model because it was blue and I knew I would be able to find it easier. It cost more, but it's a nice blue shade and I didn't want to be spray-painting a tiny bit of plastic just so I could find it.PREPARE YOURSELF FOR A SHOCK! There are probably a dozen of these testers with different brand names on them, but identical or near-identical innards. Once you catch your breath you may read on.They all work the same and they all work quite well for simple, little battery testers. They all test normal AA, AAA, AAAA, D, C, nine-volt (look for the two port holes spaced just like the terminals on the nine-volt battery on the right side of the tester around from the front) and they do a good job with button batteries if you are patient enough to be able to balance the little suckers between the two claw bits of the regular terminals. Here's a super-secret tip for not losing your tester: keep it with your spare batteries. I taken years of trial and error and research to construct this tip for you, and yes, I know many of the women reading kinda just started doing this by habit, but it always goes like that . . . . imagine if we got a female in the Whi--oops, never mind, that's a lost cause!

Buy This, Save a Bunch of Money & The Environment
This little battery tester is light and small, and does exactly what it should...tells you if your 1.5 or 9V batteries are strong, weak or dead. With that information, you will avoid discarding perfectly good batteries that seem dead because your equipment has a bad connection or some other problem. No wasted money buying batteries, no sending good batteries to the landfill. This tester does not need a battery itself, and there is no setup required so checking batteries is easy and fast. It's about the height of a 9V battery, and weighs less than one.I keep this battery tester with my camera gear, and use it to check flash batteries before going out on a shoot. We have another tester in the box of spare batteries at home, so we can test batteries before replacing them.I would prefer that the color of this battery tester be something other than black (almost all my camera gear is black, making it hard to sort through), but that's a trivial complaint.

The blue one doesn't work
I've had a very similar one before and I loved it. But someone else loved it too and it disappeared. So I ordered a new one expecting the same quality I had before. It works the same but the results are very different. I tested several different batteries and the results never changed. Batteries I knew we're completely dead showed they were just on the lower side of being good. The good batteries showed the same . im really disappointed.
