You get what you pay for. I did not want to shell out almost $500 for a competition bag. Competition dance is expensive enough as it is! This one was on sale, so I scooped it up, after having returned another one I purchased through Amazon (the duffle - I don't recommend). The hanging rod is difficult to pull out, but once it is out, it works just fine and is easy to put back in. The zippers are a bit difficult but no snagging and nothing a little extra effort won't fix. The main issue is that, if there is nothing inside of the suitcase when you're utilizing the rod, the suitcase will fall over. My daughter learned that when she pulled out her box of shoes, and all of her costumes toppled to the floor. The next night, she kept the box in the suitcase, but it made it difficult to see her shoes during quick change. Considering the price and quality of the other options, I would still buy this one again, but you should know before you buy that you'll have to make accommodations for it.
