Feedback
What a flexible process Liz Lerman has presented in Critical Response Process. It is designed for critiquing performing arts or working on artistic expression. Itβs a technical but highly accessible way to see differently. Movement is the phrase that captured me. How to put movement in writing, drawing, painting, teaching, cooking etc. Statement of meanings, inquiry and collaborative feedback all play a role in the artistic process. Worth reading and quite engaging. Opens up the spigots of creativity.

Essential reading for anyone who has to provide constructive criticism
Reviewing this is easy - it is an exceptional book, highly recommended for anyone involved in an artistic pursuit where criticism is part of the process. I would especially recommend this to teachers, whether they teach dance, music, theater, visual arts, or any area outside the arts where a really effective methodology for providing constructive criticism is required. The entire critical response method is clearly explained, with plenty of examples for use in all sorts of disciplines - including non artistic. The method always keeps the sensitivities and feelings of those being critiqued in mind - and it works. Don't be fooled by how thin it is, it is a wealth of practical and very wise information.

Smart book on how to critique smartly
A drama professor friend told me to get this book if i wanted to learn more about what she does in the classroom. This book has extremely clear examples of how to go about eliciting valuable critiques on others' works of art. I have yet to use it myself but I'm sure I will when I'm next in the proper environment.

Clear and practical guide to artistic feedback
I love Lerman's guidelines and think her text should be used whenever and wherever feedback is given within a creative process. I'd recommend this text to anyone looking to utilize a system for artistic reflection, audience reaction, and process development. Clean, clear, and concise.

Excellent
I love this book, and have recommended this method of critique to a great many people since the purchase. I use the Critical Response Process at my weekly playwriting workshops, and everyone seems more than pleased with the outcome and progress. I especially like that this method leaves writers in control of their work. I highly recommend this book, and the Critical Response Process.

Pay attention before you purchase.
This is not a book. It is a booklet.

Book was a gift to my Daughter
I didn't get a chance to read the book. It arrived on time after Christmas and I gave it to my daughter as she was leaving my home AND the postman had just arrived with the amazon book. My adult daughter works with the Arts (Dance, various school arts events as a non-profit org) and this is one book she really wanted for Christmas.

lots of good ideas here
I was recommended this book by a friend. My need is not directly related to the arts but rather to helping academics respond to criticism of their writing. This process seems like it would apply to many academic situations but there are also great ideas here for addressing critical comments received asynchronously without the benefit of asking specific questions. I suspect I will return to this book many times.

It seems the CRP is popular with some English-Canadian theatre professionals. I needed to learn more about it. Result: I will probably integrate this approach in my audience development work for the arts.
