Jende Double Hollow Ground-Original Reed Knife for Oboe & Bassoon Reed Making-Right Handed

Great Even Compared to the Landwell Knife
I love the steel in this knife! It reminds me of the 4 older (c. 1990s) Landwells I have. The two new Landwells I bought in 2019 don't even come close to these older knives. The steel is not the same buttery, homogenous steel as is in their older ones. I don't particularly love them, but they're still good. This Jende student knife is excellent, better steel, a bit heavier than the Landwell, with a better shaped handle for balance in the hand. The steel is homogenous so you can put a great scraping burr on it all the way down the blade and it's just a tad longer than my Landwell blade. The hollow grind isn't as aggressive as the Landwell, but it is plenty thin. I bought this student knife because I'm not one to labor over putting a 10,000th grit finish on my knife. I retouch at 600 grit and polish at 1000 and get back to scraping. This knife comes comparable to that level of polish right out of the box. And it's a LOT less expensive than paying the extra $40-$60 for the incredible finish he puts on his pro knives which, honestly, I would just mess up; so I save money and am a very happy reedmaker with this knife. I really like the steel in it and the balance in my hand.
