Towever 84703 Trailer Hitch Tightener, Anti-Rattle Stabilizer for 2 & 1.25 inches Hitch, Aluminum Constructed No Rattle Noise Hitch Clamp

Bought as a replacement for a well-loved stabilizer that was rusting out. The unit I recieved is not ready for regular use.The u-bolt stripped on the first installment. I torqued it by hand and did not apply any more torque than my previous stabilizer required.Upon removing it, I realized that the aluminum plate had already dented from driving with no load on my hitch basket. My previous stabilizer had almost no indentation after thousands of miles with a loaded basket.The concept of the "no rust" aluminum is marvelous, but the durability simply isn't there. Re-buying the steel variety and will replace it again in five years when it rusts again.

I'm using this in an application that will be visible, so I bought this in hopes that it won't rust. Of course, the aluminum won't rust, but the U-bolt is still steel - so I'm hoping it's galvanized enough to stay rust-free. This would have been better had they sold an aluminum plate and stainless steel U-bolt, but I didn't find any like that. I'll reduce the number of stars later if this rusts, but I'll start out as a 5!

I have a couple brands of these and this is by far my favorite. Very light weight and not too wide for those cars with tight spaces around the hitch. This fits my BMW X5 hitch perfectly. Used it on a recent 1,400 mile trip with a 12’ uhaul and this was a perfect solution to significantly cut down on rattle and noise. I coupled this with a Curt Rockerball and between the 2 of these, completely eliminated rattle, jerks & noise.

This tightener works and is easy to put into place. I am using it on a bike rack so nothing very heavy. I am pleased that there is no more play in the hitch. It works as advertised and is a simple and cheap solution to hitch wiggle. I have only had this in place for 2 months so I am not sure how it will do for the long haul. (RRR - pun intended)

This item was exactly as described and was easy to install. It really tightened up the connection between our hitch extension and the hitch. After installing this, there was no "play" in the connection and no more noise. Seems well made - has lasted one summer with no problems. The order arrived quickly.

I have a Jeep Wrangler and have to use an extension because of the rear door mounted spare tire. Between the extension and the hitch there were two points of slack so I installed two of these tighteners and it fixed the problem perfectly! Highly recommended.

I have multiple trailers with different size hitches so I have to change out my receivers weekly.This aluminum unit lasted for 5 months, then the threads stripped.I will try one with steel bolts now instead?

Threads are easy to cross thread if you don’t align properly. After securing product to trailer hitch, it tends to loosen / bend slightly. I typically pull 7k lbs- 9,500 lbs. Lighter loads, there’d be no issues. In all, product works and prevents any movement when secured / installed properly to your receiver.
