Handsome Cycles Black Aluminum Fenders, Matte Black, 700c X 45mm

I bicycle commute through rain and snow, so I learned long ago that a good pair of fenders is essential. After cracking my third pair of plastic fenders from one of the popular brands, I decided to upgrade to a set of full aluminum set. I was worried about the cost and the weight, but after getting these set up I'm glad that I did.Installation: Every bike is different, so any fender installation carries the potential for difficulty. This set ended up being one of the easiest I've ever done. The instructions could be a little better — and I'm pretty sure I received some extra pieces — but ultimately it was easy to set up. I like that the struts mount to the fenders in the center of the fender, unlike at each side like other sets I've used, which means much less adjusting.Quality: After installation, there is virtually no wiggling or rattling. The leather washers do their job well. I feared that the aluminum might be noisy as it was struck by pebbles and other road debris, but it was no worse than my plastic fenders, which is to say barely noticeable. Aesthetically, they look beautiful, as good as a fender can look anyway.Function: Any commuter should have full-coverage fenders, and these meet that need even though they have no mud flaps. I think they would be slightly improved with mud flaps, but even on the slushiest, saltiest winter day the road spray is very tolerable.Customer Service: I'll admit it, I somehow accidentally ordered the wrong size on my first purchase. Even though I opened the package before noticing my mistake, Handsome Cycles let me return the set with no questions asked. I really appreciate that.Long story short, I highly recommend these. They do their job well and will almost certainly last longer than a pair of equivalently priced plastic fenders.

The included hardware presumes that your bike has threaded seatstay and chainstay bridges, which most do not. Would be 5 stars, if only for including an extra couple nuts and bolts.

Love the look of these fenders, but be aware the internal width is only 40mm not 45. My 38mm Teravail Ramparts (slicks) mounted on 19mm internal wheels just barely fit. I would have loved it if they were wider, but for the price and hammered low profile look I’ll keep them. Just going to have to remove when I swap back and forth between slicks and gravel knobbies.

Firstly, these are one of the better looking fenders I have come across. I'm happy I found them. I've seen others with multiple connection points and can only imagine the installation process. The one strut per fender on these was a breeze to set up. I had some problems on my first ride with rubbing on a set of 700x42 tires which measured at 38mm. On my 700x35 tires they fit much better with even more clearance. These fenders did a great job keeping my back clean and dryer than usual during a very rainy 40mi tour. I think that the few mounting points makes it easier to take them off if necessary. I would definitely recommend these despite the slightly higher price vs other brands.

Bike commuter here. These are clearly designed more for appearance than reliability. I've had constant issues with maintaining fit with the rear fender. In other words, when you bike, the fender will move and eventually rub against the tires. I've cranked down the fasteners, and still the fender will inevitably shift. Don't waste your money.

Beautiful fenders. No rattles. Pants and jacket totally dry on a puddle filled ride. Install instructions are a little wordy and confusing but it was easy to install with a little common sense and pictures from their website.

Just received and installed my Handsome Mud Butler fenders yesterday. Handsome was a quick send and answered questions in a very timely manner (impressive considering other companies I've delta with). Installed them on my Masi Giramondo touring bike with stock Clement X'Plor MSO 40x700c tires. With these size tires it's a close fit, but a killer look. I had to make only one modification.. I cut the cork spacer on the rear fender (attachment to BB) to half the length so the wheel/tire could be replaced/removed easier. Otherwise it was a really tight squeeze getting the wheel back on & off. As it turned out, it fit perfectly once the wheel was in place. Handsome has a great website and even has a video to show you step-by-step instructions to install these fenders. Give yourself a couple hours to install and take your time. It's well worth watching the video first and during installation.I rode 15 miles with them today (dry weather) and gave them a pretty good shake-down. No problems! I thought I heard some noises, but after a thorough inspection I realized it was only my mini pump and tire tools occasionally rattling in my jersey pocket (Ha!). These seem to be made for the real world, but still look very classy. I am pleased with the purchase so far. I will update this review if I encounter any problems with these fenders.

These are amazing. Their installation instructions are seriously jacked. Like if you took ikea instructions and put them through a shredder and then combined the shreds with a blueprint from some random item off the internet. They have an instructional video on their site. USE IT.
