HC and D Supplies Star Field Game Mat

I bought this mat for Star Trek Ascendancy. I later bought the official game mat for Star Trek Ascendancy. I can say without a doubt this mat is a far superior product, and I paid virtually the same amount for both mats. My review will compare both.Official Mat: The official mat's print looks nice, but it is made of a cheap vinyl. It got scratched up after 1 use, with noticeable scratches. It moves around during play. The material feels very weak like it will rip very easily.This Mat: This mat is made of the same type of material as mouse pads or other play mats for TCGs. It looks good, not great. It does not have the starting points for the different civilizations (nebulas) as the official mat. But its the exact same size, which means it defiantly can be used for the game. It's very thick and durable. It does not move around during play. It's just a solid mat that will last, which means it can be used for other games too.

Could be better:1) Obviously, making it 36"x36" is the first issue that needs to be fixed so it can be used in official play (round corners aren't that big a deal).2) Use higher resolution graphics -- I could have airbrushed a better starfield myself.What's good:1) Material is great. This company knows how to make a playmat.2) Sets up fast, stays put, and looks nice and "finished". It's less portable than felt, but it stays put, doesn't collect hair, and doesn't wrinkle.What else you should know:1) The top surface is a little on the slipery side. Not as bad as a bare table or vinyl, but far less friction than felt.2) It's heavy and won't foldl -- you're stuck rolling it and carrying it separately, as opposed to folding a felt mat to fit your case/pack/bag.

Very nicely made star mat. Only complaint is that it is slightly larger and has square corners vs the other mat released by HC&D that has rounded corners.

By far the best $30 I have spent on the X-Wing Miniatures Game to date. The rubber underside prevents the matt from sliding around, and the felt top side is comfortable and easy on your priceless miniatures. To give you the best idea of what you're buying: it's a 3'x3' mousepad, and that's great.

What can I say? This mat is way, way, way better than the one sold by fantasy flight. It is thicker. It has the non-skid rubber bottom. It is more durable, and it cost about the same, sometimes even cost less. If you need a 3x3 mat, this IS the mat you're looking for.

I was looking for an X-Wing miniatures battle mat, and this product looked like it would meet my needs. Unfortunately, when I received the product in its box, it was rolled up in a half-hazard fashion, which caused one end of the mat to be wrinkled / bent. No amount of re-bending will fix this issue as the mat has been warped beyond repair. The product itself is fairly sturdy, clings to table tops adequately, and the star field design is passable, though not stellar (resolution is fairly low). The fabric on the surface is sufficient to minimize the movement of pieces, though on the edges, the fabric appears a bit frayed.

The mat is well made, and the print is good qaulity. The design chosen is great for X-Wing, it's not too busy, and has just enough detail to make the game pop, without drawing attention from the game itself.I would buy this again. In fact if it is ever offered in an Epic print, I WILL buy it again.

You get what you pay for. It's sorta boring and has a 'meh' sort of cut so the edges look a little cheap but it works.

El empaque del producto llegó muy maltratado, sin embargo, el producto no sufrió daño y la calidad no fue lo deseado pero es aceptable.
