SPOILER FREE REVIEW OF VIGILANCE
SPOILER FREE REVIEW:Any fan of the Blade of the Immortal Series will have very high hopes for the second-to-last volume. "Vigilance" does not disappoint. One of the greatest things about BOTI is the way Samura blends story with action in a way that ensures the fights are epic and--more importantly--the reader genuinely cares about the outcome. Most of the volumes throughout the series strike just the right blend of action and narrative. While some volumes may be criticized for leaning too far one way or the other, "Vigilance" gets it right."Vigilance" is all action from start to finish. No back story or exposition here. Ordinarily, that may be a criticism I may have, but since most or all of the characters featured in this volume have been so thoroughly developed across the previous 29 volumes, there is no sense of disappointment over the pure focus on action. The story picks up exactly where volume 29 left off. It's a story of one battlefield and three battles taking place concurrently. Nearly every character involved in these series of battles would be considered a fan-favorite by any reader who's reached this point in the series. If you've come this far, you're in it to see who comes out on top. The final resolution will come with the next (and last) volume, but you will not be disappointed with the action in Vigilance, and I can promise you the final pages will leave you in major anticipation of "Final Curtain."

Best manga series ever
The best manga series I have ever read. One day they will make a movie version that will rival the greatness of the original material

Loved this volume of Blade of the Immortal
Loved this volume of Blade of the Immortal! SO much going on in this one and 2 critical battles (One that shows just how important Manji's blood worms are) And a final battle between Anotsu and Habaki. Anyways, great book!

The end is near
I mistakenly thought this was the last volume (one more to go) but wow, everything converges here and now. No more avoiding the cataclysm started in the previous volume as old "friends" get together for a "friendly chat". As the series gets closer to the finale, it's Game of Thrones territory as the question is "who will die next?". Hiroaki Samura has carefully built up his characters in such a manner and such detail, that though they being almost all pretty terrible people, with masses of deaths to their name, you don't really want them to perish. But the train keeps rolling whether you want it or not. I must say that this volume in particular is quite satisfying in the choices of characters to perish. But in doing that creates a boiling point where you know that things are going down in the next volume and hitting the ground with a thud. Exciting stuff!
