Mildly disappointed
I received my new Widu Large Rectangular Brush today and was very excited to open and use it, which I did. My first and biggest disappointment is that the bristles are only 3/4 inches and not one inch as I had been led to believe. I have six plastic and rubber brushes with 3/4 inch bristles. I have a couple of other wooden brushes which I like well enough. The only difference with this one is that it is rectangular. I'm going to wash my hair now and brush it out with conditioner and then shampoo it, as I always do. Unfortunately, I don't think this brush is any different or any better than a couple of old plastic brushes that have one inch bristles which I can take into the shower with me. Now, I am anxiously awaiting the second wooden Widu Wooden "Bamboo" Bristle Hair Brush 1 Count which I've been assured by Maryana does have one inch bristles. This brush measures 8 1/2 inches long by 3 inches across the bristles. The handle is 1 1/8 inches wide. And, of course, the bristles are 3/4 inches long. The removable head slides off the wooden handle and the almost 1 1/2 inch head. Five extra bristles included in little plastic bag.Perhaps one day I will cut my very long, thick but fine and fragile hair. Until then, I will continue to use conditioner and brush out tangles with an old plastic Goody Brush with 1" bristles and then shampoo. I only wish I had not spent the outrageous sums of money that I have for these brushes, even as nice as they are.

Quality and comfort.
This is the only brush I've never hated. The bristles are gentle, and feel pleasant. Regardless of how messy my hair is, it detangles gently, with no problem, product or pulling. I have a loose wave structure, and fine hair if that provides a needed reference point. This particular design mimics curly haired brushes, but improves upon them significantly. It's very easy to clean, which surprised me. I gave it a quick clean without removing every bristle, and it still came very clean. This is important to me because my hair tends to be oily. The rubber only comes in black in US markets now, so be aware that's probably what you'll be receiving. The initial investment seemed steep to me, but I'll be using this brush hopefully for the next couple decades, as replacement bristles are available, and it came with five. They're pretty cheap though. I plan on eventually buying a travel model as well. Well worth purchasing!

Widu Man Size Large Rectangugular Brush with Removable Head
UPDATE - DEFECTIVE PRODUCT: Unfortunately, the rubber backing on this Widu Brush failed within about a year. It started to bubble and crack and then the bristles fell out and a large hole formed in the middle of the rubber backing. A replacement rubber backing is available for sale on Widu's site, but they want more for the rubber backing than the cost for buying a new Widu brush off of Amazon (replacement rubber back shouldn't cost more than $10 and should last a lot longer).A family member bought a different Widu brush and her brush's rubber backing also wore out in less than a year. I consider this a major flaw which makes this a DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. Widu should offer FREE REPLACEMENTS of the rubber backing due to this product defect. As a result of this major defect, I would not recommend this brush to anyone. Therefore, I'm changing my star rating from 5 to 1. Waste of hard earned money. When I received this brush, I noticed that one of the wood bristles was defective (one of the bristles was cut flat on the tip instead of being rounded). But, the brush came with a sealed plastic bag with five extra bristles. So I replaced the defective bristle with one of the extra bristles in the bag...problem solved. This brush is excellent. It is the right size for me and when I brush my hair with it, it gives my scalp a gentle message and doesn't scratch or damage my scalp. It is quality handmade in Italy.I love the fact that you can take this brush apart for cleaning. Every few weeks, I take it apart and wash it with Dr. Bronners natural soap. I dry it with a towel and then let it air dry the rest of the way. Once it is dry, I use some organically grown lavender oil from Washington state to lightly oil the bristles and the wood handle. It gives the brush a nice fresh, clean scent. This brush is so well made, I don't think I'll every have to buy another one, but I'll probably buy more for friends and family as gifts.

WIDU IS THE BEST
The WIDU brush is worth the fifty bucks! I bought one years ago and it lasted for about 7 years before the rubber broke down. I purchased another and my kids always ask for mommy's brush. Pretty much this gets used by 5 people every day and it holds up. People still get caught up with the price. It's bamboo bristles, it really does feel amazing in curly hair and straight. I ask you if it's worth skipping daily frapacoffee or even one restaurant dinner out for between 7-10 years of having the best brush ever. It is and I happily paid the money, twice now. I did buy the other wooden brush that starts with a B, and it was much stiffer and didn't feel as good in my daughters hair. I had to buy her, her own WIDU.

great brush
I don't like to wash my hair everyday, and this brush redistributes the natural oils in my hair making it super glossy and very soft. The bristles feel wonderful on my scalp and I love brushing my hair with this brush. My hair looks fantastic and even my hairdresser commented on how healthy and soft my hair was. She thought that I had changed shampoo or something, and she was very surprised when I told her that the only thing different was my hairbrush.I've had my hairbrush 7 years now. It's never broken a pin. I'm keeping my hair much longer than I did when I originally purchased my brush. I think I'm able to grow longer healthier hair because this brush is so gentile. I never hit a snag or tangle that it can't glide smoothly through. It's a great investment.
