These are different!
What I like about this book is that most of the quilts do not look like they were made with neckties. They simply use the ties like you would use any other fabric. What I wish the author had done a little more of is discuss how to incorporate colors and patterns that may not really go together. She did a good job of that herself, but didn't really articulate how to go about it.

Some really great tips
Most of these types of books give you the standard beginner info, then the pattern and/or technique the book was written to provide, and usually some good photos to go along with it. This book does all that and more... It's nice to see some info on working with different fabrics and with that came some interesting tips I can use with all of my other projects too. This is a great little book that covers the basics of working with ties (old, new, fancy, and cheap) and it has some extra tips that will flow across your sewing room....

Neckties made new!!
It took three neckties to create this elagante pillow. Some velour sculpted from my stash made this pillow, very simple used wondaunder to make ties stay ready for machine work. Also made a small matching pillow for granddaughter.

Create Keepsakes
Beautifully illustrated book chocked full of basic information about working with neckties to create memorable quilts. Included lots of ideas to consider while selecting ties to be used for each design. Great addition to my quilting book library.

Buy This Before You Start
I steam-cleaned a mound of my deceased husband's ties with plans to make quilted memory objects for family members. After taking one tie apart I knew I needed help and fortunately found this book on Kindle. The instructions are clear and detailed from cleaning the ties, deconstructing them, how to press and stabilize to patterns and detailed instructions for creating the quilt. Coincidentally, I noticed on quilt photos they had all been quilted by someone with my last name and going back to the cover page showed she was the author.

Excellent condition
The book was in almost new condition. It came sooner than expected. I got several good ideas for the bagful of ties I got at a yard sale. Very pleased with my purchase.

Use for ties
I have a large collection of ties to use and the information in this book on how to prevent them fraying and become usable fabric for quilting is very good. The patterns are not knew to anyone who does patchwork and quilting, but it will tickle the imagination with how to produce something in silk for a charity shop price.

Schlipse, Krawatten, Binder in bekannten Blockarrangements
