Not memory foam on top. The foam on top has no memory at all.

Great support - not too firm or soft
My usual mattress is a Pottery Barn extra-deep pillowtop, so I'm used to a very soft experience. As I've gotten older, I've pondered a firmer mattress, though, so when I picked up the DreamFoam twin for my daughter, I took the opportunity to try it out myself. While obviously much firmer than what I'm used to, the DreamFoam sits somewhere between truly firm and soft. It's a low-density foam, which means it quickly conforms to pressure with none of the bounce of a traditional spring mattress (almost comically the case when my 7yo tried to bounce onto it like her old mattress). I tried it out for several naps and a couple nights and have become enamored with it: I moved less and slept better, as has also been the case for my 7yo (in fact her behavior has also improved - a hallmark of better sleep). I was concerned I'd be too hot on a foam mattress, but the DreamFoam seems to have better technology than the old foam mattresses and radiant heat wasn't an issue. When the mattress arrived, it came in what looked like an oversized poster tube and I thought surely I had been mis-shipped. But upon sliding it out and cutting open the vacuum-sealed packaging, it quickly inflated to full size and within a few hours had firmed into its final shape. Unlike other foam mattresses I've seen, this had very little chemical smell and that was completely gone by the time it was fully formed that evening. The mattress came with two pillows which did (and do) have a heavier chemical smell, but they were over-full and very hard compared to traditional down pillows and we haven't used them.I am very impressed with the DreamFoam mattress, especially for its price. I love that it's made in the States and highly recommend it, even to people coming from soft pillow-top beds like mine. Enjoy!----------EDIT: June 6, 2014:After half a year of use by my 7yo, we liked this mattress so much we bought a second for our 4yo who is graduating from a toddler-size to twin-size bed. The mattress was identical to the previous one, but the pillows were significantly different: having about half the filling that the previous ones did. While the pillows still needed to air out longer than the mattress itself, they are much more usable that the ones we received with the original mattress, and are more comparable to a (lumpy) regular pillow rather than an over-stuffed beanbag.Still glad this product is made here in the United States, which gives me much more confidence in its quality and testing, not to mention creating American manufacturing jobs.

Even after buying summer sheets and a mattress cover that's supposed to help keep cool, it's still far too warm
If you're switching from a spring mattress, beware. I thought I maybe could get used to it, but never could. There are two main problems that make it very uncomfortable. The mattress is almost unbearably hot. Even after buying summer sheets and a mattress cover that's supposed to help keep cool, it's still far too warm.Second, this mattress is not even close to firm, it gives almost no support, and after sleeping on it for a while it gets thin in the spot you normally sleep in.

Satisfied with the mattress
PROS: o Very affordable o Made in the USA!!! o Quality seems excellent o I like the included memory foam pillowsCONS: o Not as "plush" as I was hopingBottom line: Overall, I am satisfied, given the price and the fact that it is made in the USA. I ordered on 1/31, it shipped on 2/1, and arrived on 2/8. I have slept on it for a week and a half, and have slept well. I would buy it again. However, I was *hoping* that it would be more plush (a.k.a. softer, less firm). I weigh 185 so I'm not a lightweight, but I don't feel like I really sink in to this mattress much. The sensation is more one of laying on top than sinking in. I mean, I do a little, maybe a couple of inches or so. But I was hoping based on the reviews I had read that I would feel more "enveloped", as I am a side sleeper and tend to like a softer mattress. All of that said, I realize that "firm" and "soft" are VERY subjective, and what I consider "firm" could very well be considered "soft" by someone else. It's too bad there isn't an objective measurement that would numerically represent the firmness of a memory foam mattress. But I knew all of this when I ordered, so no surprises.

NOT FIRM!
NOT FIRM!!!My family likes firm firm. My mom and my sister actually likes sleeping on the floor with light padding just for reference. Now I understand memory foam aren't that firm and that's why I went with a thinner 8". This bed advertises itself as being firm but it is the farthest thing from firm. If I sit down, the whole thing compresses all the way. If I lay completely flat, I sink in about 2". Both my brother and my sister had the same experience. My brother spent a couple nights on it and he was not a fan. Good thing I bought this for a guest room. Pros: no noticeable smell, comes with two pillows. NOT RECOMMENDED if you like firm or you're elderly. As an alternative, look into the DynastyMattress 10" memory foam. It's decent and woe on me for trying to shop for firmer. It's fairly firm so that I can sit on it and not sink in. My brother has had the dynasty mattress for almost two years.
