First- this is a cool set of lights that's easy to use. It takes about 30 seconds to plug everything in and turn on. You can turn it on/off via the remote once you toggle the power supply switch to 'on'. Then you can turn the whole thing on/off if you have it plugged into a switched outlet- it remembers its last state. The remote works at least 8 feet if pointed directly (line of sight) at the sensor. The strip is heavy enough to lay down on a flat surface and not curl or twist even if you don't use the adhesive backing.The only reservation I had until I did some research was the use of the color adjustment (RGB) and 'DIY' buttons on the remote. At first it seemed like the RGB arrows didn't do anything- they didn't. And I had no idea how to set the DIY presets. Then I finally figured it out: The colored buttons (20) are NOT adjustable. What is adjustable via the RGB buttons are the DIY presets. They start out as white by default; then from there you can adjust them to the color that you like. I can't seem to get extremes like pure red or pure blue with these; but I suppose I could just use the 20 preset buttons for that. Also, I'm not sure how to set the DIY presets back to the default white since there really isn't any way to see what the current levels of each color channel are (other than comparing what you have to the 'white' button. But that's okay since you can always hit the preset white if that's what you want.I'm taking off a star because of the lack of instructions on how to fully use this. But I think it deserves 4 1/2 stars!

Shopped LED kits and wanted one that could change colors, so I decided on this unit because of it's remote and range of options. I was hoping the strip would be enough to light my larger HDTV, and it was just not bright enough. Purchased a separate 5 meter multicolor indoor replacement strip for about $10, swapped it into this setup and I LOVE it- the indoor strip is much more pliable and a little brighter than the plastic-coated indoor/outdoor strips like the one in this kit. The remote is great, love the color and intensity options and cycle speed controls. Big drawback- the IR sensor responds to signals from my other devices, so when I adjust volume it sometimes changes the color on the LEDs, which is annoying. I hid the IR box in the opposite corner of the TV from my components and that helps, but it is sensitive (no need to dangle the IR port below the screen, it will respond just fine from behind) so I have to be careful where I aim and it can be very frustrating. I made it work, I guess. The AC adapter is also rather large and I had trouble getting it to fit into my recessed outlet. A few inline adapters later, I found an acceptable solution. It was overall a good value for the remote and controller alone, but not without it's drawbacks. I would imagine similar kits have the exact same components or similar ones, and this is likely not isolated to this unit. If you're willing to make it work and have a smaller item or monitor that you want to light or are willing to purchase an upgraded cable, it's worth the investment. If I could do it over again, I might look for a kit with an indoor 5 meter strip included that had the same or similar controller and remote, if there is such a thing.

Quick and easy to set up, quick shipping. The reason for only 2 stars is that the last few LED's in the strip I received do not light up. Their packaging has an email you can reach out to for customer support before resorting to leaving a bad review. It mentions that you'll hear back within 24 hours - so I reached out and waited before writing this review, but have not heard back. I am willing to improve my rating if they reply and rectify this issue, as I understand this type of thing can happen from time to time. At the end of the day, it was cheap so I did not expect much from this product. It is hidden behind my TV stand so the last few lights not working does not make or break this for me, but speaks more to the quality of the product.Update: A Tingkam rep did respond after the second day and provided a discount code to order another strip free of charge. The replacement strip arrived quickly, so this product and seller is good in my book. One thing I will note is that when I turn on lamps in my apartment, the LED strip turns itself on. Not a huge deal, but is the difference between 4 and 5 stars here for me - can be a bit of a hassle to have to turn it off every time.

I loved these LED lights so much that I ordered a second strip of them. They work amazingly well, are nice and bright and super easy to use. The remote makes turning them on and off and changing the colors really easy. I have these lights running behind my fireplace mantel and they look amazing at night. The light strip is weighty and will lay flat on a surface without using the double sided tape that it comes with. If you wanted to hang these lights then all you would need to do is peel back the red plastic tape and apply to a clean surface. The colors to choose from are endless...red, green, white, blue, yellow, orange, purple, peach, DIY, and etc. You can make your own color and each color has may shades. This is so handy for all holidays, parties and sport themes. My fireplace mantel can be red for Valentines Day and green for the Eagles game. These lights can be plugged into one another to extend the length if needed. I am so glad that I bought these. The uses are endless with these LED lights.
