this model is a fantastic buy for several reasons
So there are a lot of these chinese-made, solar powered lithium lights, and I'll admit skepticism right off the bat. However, this model is a fantastic buy for several reasons. The housing contains more metal than plastic, always a good sign in my book, and the light it puts off is nice and bright. I use them on some of our rental properties that aren't in the best parts of town (read: few streetlights) and they throw a great beam, are sensitive enough to go off when they need to, and don't use any of the building's power.Install instructions do contain some engrish, but if you can work a cell phone, you can put this together. The power cord for the panel is long enough that it can be remotely mounted (great for under the eaves!), my only caution would be a dab of lithium grease on the electrical fittings before you put them together.About the light output - I'm not an expert, but I'll put it in practical terms. On one of our properties, its set back from the road about 70', and these are mounted on the fascia boards to catch movement coming and going to the units. If you are standing in the doorway, anything moving (dog, cat, human, stray chicken from the neighbors) is well illuminated and visible out to about 35'. Past that, it would be nice to have more light, but for $40~ shipped, can you really complain? the light is more of a spotlight beam than a flood, so spacing needs to be every 20' or so to make the whole yard light up.I also use them under the carports, facing down at about a 50 degree angle, and the panel on top to catch the sun. A car pulling in will set them off, and the adjustment buttons (in seconds) can be used to have it on for 60-90 seconds. Its a great feature when you're getting home, its dark, the kids are tired and cranky, and you have groceries spoiling. Hands-free light is a wonderful thing. In short - buy em. Decent quality, easy on the light bill, and in theory, fully recyclable when they do go on to the great beyond.

Installed in a hurricane hammered, marine environment and still work perfectly!
I've installed 2 of these at my house before. They where the same manufacturer (must have been, they look exactly the same), just marketed under a different name and sold by a different distributor! These new MicroSolar lights, however, are still awaiting installation though. - The other 2 lights are absolutely GREAT! They are BRIGHT - the two I've installed are about 14 feet up the wall and light up a huge area very nicely! Even the motion detection works great at this distance (overall about 20 - 25 feet and most likely not even at the most sensitive setting!).But what is even better, they still work after over a year in a tough marine environment that gets drenched by hurricane strength 4 rainstorms. NO OTHER solar motion light has withstood that kind of punishment yet! NO water has ruined the electronics on these, even though they are not covered by anything - no eaves there! They sure seem to be tight and I can still use all of it's functions too! The 3.7V/2000mAh battery - for this extremely sunny part of the world - gives more than enough long On & Off cycles as well.Only the mounting bracket for the solar panel is a little flimsy and broke (and probably deserves subtracting 1/2 a star, if I could), but that might not be a problem in a less storm-hammered climate as I live in!

So far so good! - UPDATED 1/4/17
Installed 3 units 3 months ago. Easy to program and install. I like that there's no need to do electrical wiring work. They're working fine after some typical summer heat and rain. It remains to be seen whether they'll handle more severe weather, so if problems come up I'll update this review. My only nits to pick are 1) the units activate around 15 feet, which is fine for my purposes, but a little more range (20-25 feet) would be nicer; and 2) the plastic towers for the solar panels are a tad thin, so I used stainless steel washers to spread the load when I attached the mounting screws.UPDATE - STILL GOING STRONG: First, I no longer live in Sacramento. I live in northern Virginia, and I installed my lights on my home here. Second, we've had some major winter storms, sleet, and pelting rains. The lights haven't skipped a beat. If I had to get more outdoor lights, I'd get more of these. 'Nuf said.UPDATE - STILL GOING STRONG AS OF 1/4/17: Working perfectly!

connections
in general , I like it, however, with winter weather , it doesnt contain enough power and cant recharge quickly, it only runs about 4 times on a daily charge, looking to add more solar, but the connection isnt obtainable, even the extension isnt the same, why they offer an extension that wont fit is beyond me

not as good as the bright white one
not as good as the bright white flood light,Its more of a wellcome light than a deterant ,took it down and fitted the PIR to my old SL! which had a faulty one, now back to normal a really bright go away flood light,All right for a yard light no good for a security light,

Great solar light for the price, easy install and good battery life
I have purchased two of these to illuminate areas around our house. The installation is super easy and the adjustments are straightforward and simple.I've had the first one installed for about a year and it continues to function as it should. The light will continue to operate throughout the night until the morning, so I haven't had an issue with the battery (I do live in Colorado where we get plenty of sun).I have noticed a minor, intermittently issue with the light. Once the light is activated and it runs through the timer, as soon as it turns off the light it will immediately flash back one and go through the timed cycle again. It will do this for 3-5 cycles, which extends the amount of time that the light is on. Again, I haven't had issues with it running out of battery yet, so it hasn't been a big issue for me.For the price it is a quality unit that performs well and is easy to install.
