One of the best WH fantasy novels out there
Nagash is a collection of three books telling of the rise and fall of the father of Necromancy and one of the most feared names in Warhammer Fantasy! Each book is incredibly well written, full of actions and suspense, and full of a number of cliches as well. I found that the first two books were probably the best of the three. The last one wasn't terrible, but it didn't seem to hold my attention as much as the first two.The trilogy does an amazing job of showcasing the culture of Nehekara which I found to be more interesting than most of the characters themselves. It also does a good job of showing Nagash's sheer depravity and lack of humanity as he seeks to uncover the secrets of unlife. The series introduces a number of character both throwaway and important to Warhammer lore, yet does a fine job of making both types of characters feel intriguing and equally important to the story.Of course, it wouldn't be a Warhammer book if it didn't feature the horrors of war, and NO SPOILERS HERE, there is a gruesomely heavy amount of sheer carnage and battle that takes place. The author really keeps your attention while he narrates these wide-scale battles where it's more about the generals' state of mind, decisions, and tactics rather than just a meat-grinding slog for the sake of carnage.Overall, I'd recommend this series. It is full of a couple of cliches, and some tedious moments in the final book, but I feel in its entirety it is well worth the purchase.

Phenomenal Journey
Did you want to learn about Nagash before he came a god of death? About Neferata and the first vampires? About the origin of the Tomb Kings and what their people were before they were undead fighting over the desert? Then look no further. These books discuss the rise and fall and second return of Nasgah, the Undying King in an entertaining and gripping way. I had so much fun reading about characters I've come to love from the Warhammer Fantasy setting and see their origins stitched together in a complete narrative.

Filled in a lot of the gaps
A very strong collection, this shows a lot of the background on Nagash, the start of the vampire, and the creation of the Lands of the Dead. Well worth picking up for anyone interested in WH Fantasy. Also found the short story to be a good read, which isn't always the case. For some reason, I thought that Nagash was directly responsible for the creation of vampires. That being said, he was pretty much the single most evil sucker that every lived. And does he prove it.Wasn't a great fan of the Skaven portrayl, they felt more like rat skinned humans.

Skeletons and vampires
Really good read following the legend of Sigmar. This really helped flesh out Nagash and help you understand the beginning of his atrocities upon the warhammer world.

. 10/10 would lay waste to the world of yhe living again
The beginning is very hard to comprehend, at first, you are blastee with names, cities, areas and the like that leaves you confusing in how Egyptian they are, about halfway in the book becomrs really really good however once you get a grasp on everything. Don't give up!!

Great Read!
I really enjoyed this series and I must admit, even though Nagash is a vile villain, I was rooting for him! I had never read any other Warhammer books nor have I played the game, so I am completely unfamiliar with the lore, but this series seemed to be a great way to get involved. The series spans a long number of years which keeps every book fresh, and even focuses on another group of characters in book 2. I didn't mind that at all since I felt like the series was to help people understand the characters in the Warhammer universe. If you enjoy necromancy and antiheroes, you should enjoy this omnibus.

Random chapter order
This book has apparently been randomly organized. What would normally be a prologue is about 200 pages in. The author thinks this a good artistic choice. The protagonist of the series is the villain? If like this kind of thing, enjoy the book.

A bag of mixed sand.
The Rise of Nagash is a strange beast. It deals with a lot of history which is quite complex but unless you really pay attention you'll be overwhelmed. The battle scenes are amazing and seeing the rise of Nagash is really good...the problem is the changing pov's ruin the experience somewhat and around halfway this omnibus Nagash barely features anymore.Likewise there are some lore inconsistencies that could be troubling to some ( Asaph is worshipped in Lamia and not Lybaras, the future Vlad the Impaler is not mentioned enctr....)For those who love Pre-Tomb King Nehekara I do highly recommend this one still.
