Awesome development board
Awesome development board. Other users may be having difficulties, and that is probably because this board is not for beginners. If you are unsure of your abilities with linux or android, then go with the Rpi. The Rpi has a larger community base and a lot more instructions on how to use. Now back to the review of this board. This board is fast, with it's quad core arm cortex a15 and quad core a7 running in big-Little configuration. It runs tasks pretty quickly, and with two gigs of ram, is able to load browsers pretty quickly. It comes with android, but with a little know-how, you can put linaro ubuntu on it. It took some work of course to get all the drivers working perfectly, but after you do that, it's like having a cool mini computer. I decided to test out my knowlege and get a Display Link USB screen and set it up as my default, so I can make this portable PC actually portable. Was a tough job, but I managed to get it done, developing the drivers, and building a linux kernel with the drivers installed... All while using this board.. no use of an external pc necessary. Now Im using it like a little backpack laptop; complete with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. All in all very solid development board. Alot of fun to use and learn from. For beginners; as I stated before, get the Rpi. For those who know what they are doing, go for the cubie.

Sort of Android PC
It's OK... yes, that's it.. no more.If you're looking for an ANDROID device,, it works.BUT IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR AN LINUX BASE (ie UBUNTU...) NO!!!!!I took me more than 4 hours to make it run.. and... it's a very small Ubuntu, w/o wifi, if you want HDMI, so you dont have VGA, if you want WGA, so you don't have HDMI... SUCKS!No support, no drivers, nothing at all!!PLEASE MR VENDOR,,, respond mails!!! get some coverage to customers!! upgrade your platforma,,, respond blogs!!!

This machine is a bit of a powerhouse. It's ...
This machine is a bit of a powerhouse. It's one defining drawback is the lack of a SATA port. Howerver it does have USB3 so you can use that for fast storage.

Nice board, allwinner open source could improve.
Nice board for the money. The cubieboard community is a little lacking and the open source code quality of allwinner is a little weak.

Too much work to use - better to buy a better supported platform
I have had this device for a while but it generally collects dust. The process for upgrading the kernel is just too complicated and the CPU manufacturer doesn't upstream much - though according to Debian in 2016 they started to improve.Dusted it off recently in an attempt to use it with a AI cluster but really not too much value because of the lack of software support.Really the only distros that they have are 2015 based and no one seems to be updating it. Basically a dead platform unless you want to take it all on.Would not recommend it for anything like docker, clustering, etc.. may work for TVs... but really limited there as well.

Be wise – find better alternatives for less
Their products are raw and unreliable with no warranty support, no hardware and software support. And due to those reasons, their community is very small. On their technical forum people ask questions, but never get the answers back.I made a mistake and purchased CB4 for $150 in March, 2015. And only have troubles with it, nothing else. Be wise – find better alternatives for less. There are many of them: Raspberry Pi, Odroid, Banana Pi etc.
