Disappointing
I have arthritis in my hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders and, after years of crocheting, I had virtually stopped becausing of the pain. Recently, I decided to look for a solution and I found links to ergonomic crochet hooks. After looking around on the web and here on Amazon, I decided the Gold Medal Crafts set might be right for me. I was excited when I first got the Gold Medal Crafts ergonomic crochet hook set, but my excitement turned to disappointment quickly. The issues are:1) The handles are not large enough. People with arthritis have difficulty gripping thin, narrow crochet hooks. Putting a thin coating of rubber over a crochet hook does not make it "ergonomic." (On the other hand, putting a large ball on the end of a crochet hook is not going to make it any easier.) A crochet hook with a cigar-shaped rubber grip would be ideal, but I can's seem to find that.2) The hooks in this set are very short, far too short for my medium-sized hand. I use the pencil grip and when I'm holding these hooks, the end doesn't rest in the crook between my thumb and forefinger. The hooks might work if you have very small hands but they don't work for me.3) The length of aluminum/steel hook extending out of the rubber grip is too short for complicated stitches. Tr, dc2tog, tr2tog, puff and cable stitches (to name a few) were impossible. I couldn't get all the loops on the hook.I'm not going to return these hooks because it would cost more than I paid for them, but I won't be using them. I'll be going to the local craft store to try to find a hook I can use for my next project. I'm going to try a Boye ergonomic hook next. It looks to be longer, but the grip is still going to be a problem.

GREAT SET OF CROCHETING NEEDLES!!!
Great set of crocheting needles!! As an avid knitter/crocheting guy (yeah a guy!), I have really enjoyed this set of needles. I have been using my Boyle style crocheting needles for some time, but with the onset of carpal tunnel developing in my wrist and my fingers getting numb, it was time to find an alternative needle type. After doing a little research, and reading the reviews on this one set of needles, I decided to give them a shot. At first, I found the needles to be a little on the short side, but with time, I got use to them. The rubber grips on the needles make it easier to use them for some time, without hand or wrist fatigue. After a little use, the needles glide through the yarn with ease, and no snagging of the yarn. I can crochet long periods of time, without wrist pain or numbness to my fingers. I'm really loving these needles! I think they are a great buy for the price, and gave me the bang for my buck. A real plus was the down loadable crocheting guide! Give them a try! I think you'll enjoy them!

Smooth As Butter, Comfy & Affordable
I've crocheted for over 50 years and sadly put my hooks down a few years ago due to some health issues with my hands. I took up loom knitting a few months ago, and I really love it. But I sorely missed my crochet. Sooooooooo ... ordered these cushioned hooks and haven't put them down since I got them a few days ago. These are just awesome. They are so comfortable to hold and so easy to use. I don't know why it never occurred to me to try cushioned hooks before now.I've tried every hook in this set, and each one works smoothly without snagging my yarn. The throat area are all deep enough (an issue I've had with some hooks over the years). The only thing that might make me happier is if they made a few larger hooks. I use US sizes K & L quite often for bulky yarns. But I knew what was included before ordering, so that is not a negative in any way. I'll order the larger hooks separately.

Great People, Great Product!
These hooks are great! My wife just recently started crocheting and the standard hooks she was using were causing her hands to cramp up and her carpal tunnel started acting up. I picked these up as a little gift for her and she absolutely loves them. She told me she enjoys the colors, the ergonomic handles feel much better in her hands and she's been able to avoid the pain and cramping. The eBook with the tips and designs was a huge bonus for her since she's only really learned one design at this point but would like to start making new designs.Aside from the product, Gold Medal Crafts has been awesome to work with. Laura, Co-Founder of Gold Medal Crafts, contacted me the day after I placed my order to let me know that it was being processed for delivery so I would be receiving it very soon. She also added some extra insight on the eBook just in case it was overlooked when the hooks arrived.

Don't be couch potato, be constructive and create a crochet item while watching TV
I love them. Even tho I am 65 I am remain arthritis free. Hadn't crocheted in years so when I retired I took up the hook again and have been having lots of fun doing it.Started off by making little slippers and hats for my kids and grandchildren, scarves, etc. Now have graduated to my own afghan using patterns I created. This past Christmas I made 14 afghans for my friends and family. Nothing says I lovemore than a handmade gift. And fortunately for me my family loves and appreciates all my creations.Your crochet needles are one of the best I have found.By the way my crocheting is therapeutic for me. And I don't feel like a couch potato when I sit in front of the TV because I am doing something constructive. Thanks Again for a great product! All the best, Karen aka Mimi

Glad I got them rather than the more expensive version ...
It took a bit to get used to because the shaft is a little short, but I am finally enjoying using them. I am mostly a beginning crocheter so it might have been my issue in using them. I do wish that they had the US sizing on them rather than just the mm sizing, but at least there's a handy little chart. Glad I got them rather than the more expensive version of them. I also liked the ebook and tutorials that they sent. Bonus!
