Tiny rooms have been left out of receiving a full bass sound of a giant woofer until now. At only a little over 13 inches on its longest size, this small subwoofer has a full 200 watt Class D amp. Its two 8 inch composite drivers and 8 inch passive radiator enhance the sound to its full capacity, and the black wood grain vinyl finish looks great in any room, no matter the size. Review: Five Stars - Best Subwoofer I have ever owned under $500 Review: Incredible Performance - I have been an audiophile since the age of 10, so roughly 45 years now. In that time I've owned a lot of gear, including subwoofers. Some have been many multiples of the cost of this little guy and were fine pieces, however this one might be the best value subwoofer I've ever owned. I live in an apartment now and needed something small, but musical. 99% of my listening is to music, with very little time spent watching movies and other stuff. This is an awesome little sub for music listening in a small to medium sized room. I am getting the specified 32 Hz extension in my room with the test CDs I've used. It is quick and tight and well defined. When paired with my Elac Uni-Fi UB-52 standmount speakers or my Klipsch RP-5000F floorstanders, I am able to dial in the settings and it creates a seamless match. My one piece of advice to anyone considering buying a powered subwoofer is make sure it has a "continuously variable" phase control. A single 0/180 degree toggle is not sufficient and will only lead to frustration. This sub is also very powerful and does not break up or distort, even at highish levels. True, I only listen at the 85 to 90 dB peak levels for most of my listening, but that is still pretty loud, and this subwoofer handles it with ease and sounds very musical and detailed in the process. Highly recommended. ## Features - 200w Rms Power - 400w Max Power Rating - Class D Amp - Two 8" Polypropylene-coated Fiber Composite Woofers - 1 Front-firing Active Driver & 1 Down-firing Passive Driver ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B016NXTIBE | | Additional Features | Bass Boost, Stereo Pairing | | Antenna Location | For Music Systems, For Home Theaters | | Audio Driver Size | 8 Inches | | Audio Driver Type | Dynamic Driver | | Audio Output Mode | Stereo | | Brand | Proficient | | Built-In Media | Protege 8" Dual-drive Subwoofer | | Color | black | | Compatible Devices | Laptop, MP3 Player, Smartphone, Tablet, Television | | Compatible with Vehicle Type | Car | | Control Method | Remote | | Controller Type | Corded electric | | Customer Reviews | 5.0 out of 5 stars 4 Reviews | | Frequency Response | 100 Hz | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00664254020018 | | Impedance | 4 Ohms | | Is Waterproof | FALSE | | Item Weight | 25.4 Pounds | | MP3 player | No | | Manufacturer | PROFICIENT AUDIO SYSTEMS | | Model Name | FS8 | | Model Number | FS8 | | Mounting Type | Tabletop Mount | | Number of Audio Channels | 1.0 | | Number of Items | 2 | | Power Source | Corded Electric | | Speaker Maximum Output Power | 400 Watts | | Speaker Size | 8 Inches | | Speaker Type | Subwoofer | | Specific Uses For Product | Home Entertainment Systems, Home Theaters | | Subwoofer Diameter | 8 Inches | | UPC | 664254020018 | | Warranty Type | Limited | | Water Resistance Level | Not Water Resistant | | Woofer Diameter | 8 Inches | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Proficient - **Speaker Maximum Output Power:** 400 Watts - **Frequency Response:** 100 Hz - **Audio Output Mode:** Stereo - **Mounting Type:** Tabletop Mount ## Images ![PROFICIENT AUDIO SYSTEMS FS8 Protege 8" Dual-Drive Subwoofer - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41k-WwCUl0L.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five Stars *by J***Y on June 13, 2018* Best Subwoofer I have ever owned under $500 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Incredible Performance *by 3***A on January 3, 2022* I have been an audiophile since the age of 10, so roughly 45 years now.
