Product Description The Thermo Scientific 75007210 Heraeus Megafuge 8R Series small benchtop centrifuge is a non-refrigerated variable-speed centrifuge with speeds up to 16,000 rpm. This centrifuge is compatible with 13 interchangeable rotors and can accommodate up to 4 x 145mL tubes (rotors and tubes sold separately). The microprocessor-controlled centrifuge automatically senses the rotor type, has two acceleration and braking curves, and can run one of four programs or allow direct function access. It has a timer to 99 hours and 59 minutes. The unit shuts off if the rotor becomes imbalanced and the lid locks automatically while running. The push-button auto-lock facilitates fast rotor exchange. The unit complies with IEC 61010-1 and IEC 61010-2 standards, and is Underwriters Laboratories (UL) listed, and European Conformity (CE) marked. The benchtop centrifuge is designed for use in clinical chemistry, biotechnology, and life science research. H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back. A centrifuge is used to spin fluids of different densities to separate various parts, commonly blood and DNA samples. Centrifuges are composed of the main body or housing and a spinning rotor. Tubes of cellular material suspended in liquid are inserted into the rotor and spun at various speeds to separate components. Centrifuges are used in medical, industrial, and research laboratories, as well as academic and clinical settings. Thermo Fisher Scientific manufactures analytical instruments, laboratory equipment, consumables, and software under the Thermo Scientific, Fisher Scientific, Barnstead, Nalgene, and Orion brands, among others. The company is headquartered in Waltham, MA.
