Snakes love it
While this may be a more expensive approach than getting compressed fiber, this substrate has quickly become one of my favorite and first picks when it comes to substrating a new python enclosure. It seems to hold humidity nearly as well as Cypress, is less abrasive on my snakes bellies, and holds both heat and humidity quite well, plus it seems to go a LONG ways per bag in comparison to cypress mulch.I'm currently housing my yearling - 2 year old Carpet Pythons on this and they seem to enjoy it when they spend time on the ground (even though most of the day is spent on their perches). I currently have it in my Ball Python rack as well, but since they had all recently received fresh Cypress mulch, it will be a little while before the rest of the cages get converted over.Nevertheless, if you want to give something new a try that has a lot lower impact to the environment than Cypress, offers easier access and use than compressed coconut fiber, and you need to hold a lot of humidty or even just a little humidtiy, this substrate is worth looking into.

Quality product
I have bought this product several times now to use as bedding for a Sulcata tortoise and for a chameleon. It is great. Always consistent texture and quality. Not dusty, but still fine ground. No big chunks that are difficult for the animal to maneuver over. Absorbemt and keeps cage odor free.highly recommend.

Very Pleased
-Excellent! Holds humidity at 20-30 throughout the day in a rather large desert lizard tank and absorbs moisture quickly during mistings.-Doesn't stick to hands/animal readily and is easily brushed off, and doesn't leave a dusty residue.-Has no smell of itself, or at least not a strong one, and reduces the weird lizard scent to near nothing.

Kritter's Crumble All Natural Coconut Husk Fiber
I love this! The first time I used it, it made my humidity go up the roof, though. I recommend replacing your bedding when your snake is about to shed, to keep the humidity up! after he/she poops, just spot clean, and you should be fine :)After a week, it'll dry out, though, and it works like regular aspen bedding. My temps are pretty stable between 58%-63% after it dried out. When I first put it in, though, it peaked up to 90%! I was freaking out, but as long as there is no condensation on the glass (assuming you, the reader, also owns a glass tank terrarium.. I'm definitely getting Animal Plastics when my ball python gets bigger) you have nothing to worry about! Like scale rot.Overall, great product! Will buy again after I run out :)

Three Stars
Great, product if you do not have time to use the coconut blocks.

NOT for Small Animals
I got this product to try in both a mouse and a ferret cage, as the previous bedding I had tried (both dirt substrates) had worked very well at controlling the odor and didn't bother their sensitive systems. I was a little worried as coconut is naturally absorbent, but assumed it would neutralize the odor as well since this particular brand was marketed for multiple small animals, not just reptiles like some others. This was completely false.I tried it in the ferret cage first and was a little put off by the fact that the entire bag was damp. While off-putting, I thought if I spread a thin layer it would dry out, though I was curious why a small animal bedding would have moisture (it makes perfect since for humid reptiles, but...), the next day I could already smell an ammonia smell, when I investigated I found that while it had absorbed the urine well, but instead of neutralizing the odor it instead isolated it and everything smelt very strongly. Luckily I never tried it in my mouse cage (who has a terrarium and cage topper) because the amount of ammonia it was putting off would have been dangerous in a glass tank and I don't feel the amount of moisture it put off would have been healthy for a rodent. Overall the bag has been relegated to the garage where I can use it as a gardening substrate, but I would NOT recommend this for anything other than reptiles and even then only ones who live in humid environs.

Less work for me and my corn snake loves it
When I got my corn snake the terrarium came with this green carpet-like mat for the bedding. It did the job but only barely and it was a nuisance to keep clean since every time there were snake droppings I had to change the whole thing out and wash it, which meant moving everything around in the terrarium and disturbing my snake. So I was looking for something better. This was definitely it! With this stuff I can spot-clean easily without remodeling the whole terrarium and just need to completely replace it once in a while. Also, corn snakes really like to burrow sometimes. For that reason alone, my snake loves it! Sometimes just the tip of her head will be visible and (along with a good hide and artificial plant) it definitely contributes to having a snake that feels safe and secure and not stressed. I intend to buy this again.

Buy the coarse and be advised substrate comes with springtails.
I will use the Kritter's Crumble COARSE bedding until I no longer can, but the fine is just so messy and terrible. It's so fine it will get everywhere on it's way to your reptile's enclosure and if you have snakes and feed rats/mice your rodents will be covered in this before the snake finishes eating. And know that this substrate consistently comes with springtail pods. They are small white bugs that you will see in your water bowls and maybe even moving around. All my research has shown that they are harmless to your reptile and even consume waste from your animals, but if you aren't particularly crazy about knowing there are bugs in your enclosure don't buy this. Again 5 stars for the COARSE. 1 star for how messy the fine is and possible ingestion when feeding rodents to your snake because it will get trapped all over their fur,
