Willowdale: Yesterday's Farms, Today's Legacy Paperback – December 17, 2013

Fantastic read for anyone raised in post war Willowdale Ontario Canada. . Photos and text will bring back a trunk load of memories as well unearthing historical facts you never thought existed. Hope there is a volumn two.

This is a wonderful book and the author is a fantastic writer. His descriptive, easy to read style really takes you back to a simpler more peaceful and in many ways happier time than the hectic pace of today. I have come to appreciate the hard work of the early pioneers and farmers of the area of North York (where I currently reside) and it is fun to discover the origins of the names of so many streets that my husband and I traverse daily. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone with an interest in history, buildings, farming and pioneer days. You will also learn a great deal about the human spirit and the conflict between material greed (developers of today) and the need to preserve and respect the dignity and beauty of our past. Thank you Scott Kennedy for such an enjoyable journey down memory lane.

For anyone who lived in Willowdale in the 50s, this book is lovely walk back in history. Its focus on families and their farms provides a special human touch. A great place to start, providing a context, for further research.

A must read for any present day boomer living throughout the globe who was raised in that open post war fun place called Willowdale just north of Toronto. As well as great centuries old history with new facts and fantastic rare photos, Scott Kennedy also touches on those wonder years where war vets began a new life with their young families. This is the book for boomers who as kids ran and played and grew of age in the open fields and fresh air of old Willowdale. Lets hope there is a second volumn coming.
