L'Etranger (French Edition) (French) Mass Market Paperback – September 5, 2007

This book is printed in Comic Sans. Plus, the font is huge. L'etranger itself is wonderful, but if staring at horrible font will bother you, I'd encourage you to pick up another version. Also, the formatting seems off and occasionally letters are randomly capitalized.

The formatting is awful, from the font choice to the separation of words, mis-capitalization of letters, and random spacing messing up the placement of words on the paper. I recommend purchasing a version of this book not edited by Daniel Ortega.

I find the book to be kind of boring (sorry literay people) but I bought it to help improve my French which it is doing! Perfect level for an intermediate French speaker to challenge themselves and learn new vocabulary and grammar while still understanding. And the text is pretty larged and spaced out which is helpful for annotation.

Came in a day late, but was really excited when I finally got it. I’d been on the hunt for a copy with this specific cover with English text. So when i’d read in the description that it was in English, I didn’t hesitate to order. Turns out the text is actually in French. Unless I received the wrong copy I’d suggest whoever is in charge might want to update that description cause it’s misleading for buyers.

I've read it twice for two different classes and loved it both times. It's written in a basic enough level of french for most intermediate students to understand, and it reads very quickly as you don't want to put it down! I love Meursault!

I ordered this edition to use with a college student whom I have been tutoring for the past five years. I used this same edition when I was teaching French at University of Massachusetts-Boston in the 70s and was very pleased to find it still available, even used.

I don't know if I just didn't read this in the description when I bought the book, but when I opened it up this evening I found-to my surprise-that there is a list in the back of the book with the verbs used in the text. My French skills are sufficient for most things, but I have to admit that the presence of that reference material is comforting.Other than that, the book arrived in great shape, just as expected.

Have ordered three books recently from Amazon, all used. They are in exactly the condition as described and received in a short time. Very happy with vendor. Am actually in the Richmond, VA area.

Excellently-recorded reading of this involving work. Mr Lonsdale reads clearly and cogently, with a minimum of drama and a sameness of expression that will delight some people and perhaps irritate others. He allows the text to speak for itself, and, with L'Etranger, that is probably a very fitting approach, given the tendency of the protagonist and narrator, Meursault, to be detached and unemotional. The musical interludes (cello solo or string quartet, I think) supply the "missing" emotion.I used this for my own work on the text, and when teaching it to a class, and hearing the text while following it on the page is an effective way of getting to know it.

It had the right number of pages and was readable.

uma história dramática bem realista mostrando as hipocrisias existentes na sociedade onde os poderes vigentes são contaminados por crenças e preconceitos.

From an outside perspective Mersault may seem like a tormented character, but his point of view oc his problems makes if seem other wise. This perception of conflict and ideologies of life make it a great psychological novel.

Je l’avais lu au lycée, il y a 25 ans avec indifférence, je ne comprenais pas le comportement de Meursault. 25 ans plus tard, je l’ai lu avec questionnement et empathie... la maturité certainement...

Une oeuvre de Camus qu'il n'est plus à commenter.Bravo pour le soin et la qualité de l'envoyeur privé..qui a su respecter le volume et ajouter par ce respect à mon bonheur.

on le sait beaucoup de nos jeunes lycéens n'aiment pas lire!!! Alors plutôt que de prendre un résumé rapide des livres sur internet( histoire de faire croire au prof qu'on l'a lu)!, j'ai trouvé la solution d'acheter de temps en temps à mon fils, le CD audio du livre( texte intégral): Casque sur les oreilles 1/2 heure par jour, ça passe mieux et ça évite des conflits qui n'en finissent plus avec nos ados! et au moins, il connait l'étranger de Camus! (cf Bac de français)

Je conseille fortement ce produit. J ai passé un moment précieux à la l écoute de cette audiolib; Aucune hésitation !!
