Q: A number of reviews say that this device can transfer signal and touch and power over a single usb c port. i cant seem to get this to work?

As long as your device supports USB C 3.1 Gen2, you can only use the Type-C port to achieve these functions

Q: Can this be used in portrait orientation with a PC?

Yes, you just need to change the dislay output on the PC to 90 degrees clockwise or anticlockwise. There are no orientation sensors built in. It is afterall just a monitor :-)

Q: Does unit have a battery

No but it can be powered by a usb cable plugged into a portable battery
