Insect Collecting Jar, 12oz Plastic, and 30ml Ethyl Acetate

Using a cartridge to contain the killing agent was an original BioQuip concept in 1959. BioQuip has now developed a PET plastic collecting / killing jar suitable for many insect collectors. Traditional glass collecting jars are heavy and fragile. These jars are clear, shatter-resistant, and lightweight. Comes with 30ml Ethyl acetate, a commonly used dispatching agent. Each jar of ethyl acetate includes an information sheet regarding it's use in entomology, and SDS sheet. How it works: A porous hard plaster cartridge securely encloses the killing agent yet permits fumes to seep through into the jar. For this jar, the cartridge screws into an inner metal lid riveted to the wide mouth jar lid, and does not crumble or break with normal use or in humid conditions.To charge, place cotton saturated with a killing agent inside the jar and secure lid. Wait 20 minutes and remove the cotton. Jar is then charged and ready to go. PET plastic is resistant to ethyl acetate, the most commonly used insect dispatching agent. Some clouding of the plastic will develop on the bottom and rim of the jars, but it does not inhibit use or function of the jars. Clear plastic jars with metal lids have red skull and crossbones labels for safety. Use of ammonium carbonate with these jars is not recommended, as it softens the cartridges.
