Fills the gap when installing tile over original drywall.
Bought these to space out the outlets around the kitchen counters after adding a tile backsplash over the original drywall. These worked perfectly to bring the outlets out to the same depth as the new tile face and did not leave a gap around the opening in the tile and the original outlet box. The only down side to these is that the clearance hole in this spacer for screw that holds the outlet to the original outlet box is too small to just slide over the screw. I drilled out the clearance so that it would go on easier. Gave it a 4 rating for ease of use due to this issue. Overall 5 rating because the product is excellent for it's intended use.

Perfect Solution
I used these to extend out my exterior electrical outlets prior to having a new coat of stucco applied to my home. They are ideal plaster or "mud rings". They fit both conventional devices, and with gentle nudging also fit the decora style but are easily trimmed if needed. I also bought the 4" rings for the exterior lighting boxes. Several sizes, but stackable if needed. 65% recycled plastic, made in the USA, inexpensive - doesn't get any better for me. Unqualified recommendation.

Great item
Ingenious concept. So easy to build out electrical boxes set too far in the wall. They are solid so receptacle or switch sits tightly against it. They have a wide range of depths. Now that I’ve used them I will make sure to keep a range of sizes on hand for future use

Used in my tile project
I bought these to extend my plug boxes. I needed to adjust the fit and the material that they are made from is easy to file and drill.

A bit oversized, may need to be cut to fit your switches or outlets
These boxes are meant to go between your in-wall electrical box and the switch/outlet mounted inside that box, so that the switch/outlet mounts flush with your drywall.PRO:-Great concept, good exterior size.CON:-screw holes are tight, making threading a screw into the spacer cut threads, so then when the screw reaches the box it won't be in alignment with the threads in the box... very frustrating. A bigger hole in the spacer would have mitigated this problem.-Box interior size is too small for many decorator / decora-type switches and outlets. They will rub on the top and bottom sections of the spacer. That material needs to be half as thick. You can try to cut it yourself with a rotary tool but the material is soft and cuts easily.-Material too soft, in my opinion.-price too high considering these issues.

back splash complete
these spacers worked out great. i had been in the habit of using screw spacers for such jobs but read that these box spacers were a safer choice for the long run. I decided to give them a try for our new back splash and the worked great. i was even able to get them on the outlet without removing the wires (the power was turned OFF. its nice when doing the right thing is also easy. also, it was nice to pick the size with confidence. the spacer was perfectly flush with the tiles.

Fits
Perfect for quarter inch tile overlays... Should've drilled out the hole to fit the 6-32 screw... But good fit, stiffened up the receptacles. Thanks

Extender
Fits most that needed to fit depending on the opening.
