Last year the Vet that was working with us wanted to know how we keep our 7 and 9 year old Dachshund's teeth in such good shape?
I have been using these bones for six years for both of my dachshunds. I have been telling my vet about them for years and the clinic we go to has 7 vets. Last year the Vet that was working with us wanted to know how we keep our 7 and 9 year old Dachshund's teeth in such good shape? He noticed that we had never had any dental work on them. I told him about Check-ups. He brought two of the other Vet's in the office and asked them to describe the look of the teeth and describe their health to him. Then he asked them to theorize and speculate on the type of preventive treatment they have had or actual procedures. They first reasoned that Dachshunds typically have dental problems because of the length of their mouths and that the back teeth are not exposed as much in normal proportioned dog mouths. When I told them we do not brush their teeth or do anything but use Check-ups, he immediately said. In my practice of 18 years I have never seen Dachshund teeth or for that matter any dogs teeth look this healthy at this age by any type of means. Yet I am today going to tell you your dogs teeth are in very good condition, shockingly so. The other two Vets agreed. They had never heard of Check-ups and I brought in the bag that afternoon to show them. I told them that my dogs love these bones over all other treats. I give 1/4 of a bone to them in the morning and the evening. They both wiegh in at about 18 or 20 #'s. My Vet said he will start recommending them will continue to monitor our dogs mouths over the next two years. Of course we bring them in every 6 months for physicals because of heart worm meds and the Vets will always be able to check their teeth out each time. I continue to be amazed with Check ups.

LOVE these bones, but Costco has them cheaper when they're in stock
My little pug gets half a bone every day at lunchtime, as she is a constantly hungry pig and her teeth need a good workout. She's not much into chewing bones at the tender age of 11, so we give her one of these every day. She LOVES them. She grabs her half bone, runs to her bed, and chews away. She can power down a bone in less than five minutes, which is pretty impressive. They're pretty soft and you can easily break them in half. We haven't had to get her teeth cleaned in a long time and they look pretty darn healthy, which is a testament to these bones considering her age and breed.Whenever they have them at Costco, we stock up. They are CONSIDERABLY more expensive online, but when you have an old dog who LIVES for her noontime bone, you make some sacrifices.Buy at Costco if you can (for over half off the online price), but if you're desperate get them here.I'd rate 6 stars if I could; Lucy would rate 10000+

Be careful if your dog has a sensitive stomach like my Boxer.
These treats do not agree with my dogs stomach. She is a Boxer and has a very easily upset tummy which is why she is on Origin, one of the best possible dry dog foods, and gets very few treats that aren't pumpkin or sweet potato based. That being said, she is only 1 and a half and I wanted to start getting her some daily or every other day treats that could help keep any teeth problems at bay and these had great reviews so we gave them a go.She ate them and seemed to enjoy them, but after about 3 treats over the course of 4 or 5 days she started throwing them back up a few hours after getting one. It would be thrown up in chunks, and even after not giving her any more of them she continued to throw up for another couple days and wouldn't keep her food down. She is perfectly fine now after cutting these out of her diet. I still rated these 4 out of 5 because I think my dog is an odd case as far as the sensitivity of her stomach. And I think that for most dogs, these would be perfectly fine, and would probably help to reduce tartar! We have now been giving her Greenies every few days, and those for some reason do not upset her stomach at all, which is both a relief and a pain (they're much more expensive as we all probably know...)I wished that these treats had worked out for us, but i'm sure for most people they will!

Nice and simple - too bad there's gelatin in them.
These are nice and simple. No weird odors or flavors. They are white, slightly pliable and bone shaped. They also have score marks to break in half (I then cut into quarters). You get a LOT in the bag! These are big!! I think they are a good value in comparison to Nylabone or Greenies (which aren't too healthy). The only thing I wish was different about these is that they contain gelatin. Why, I have no idea. But I do not like this ingredient because of what it can contain. I have not used these long enough to see results (in terms of plaque reduction, etc.), but I will update this when we have a verdict.

Does it job
Has less additives than the more popular supermarket brands. It does cost considerably more, but I buy it here if I can't get to Costco (50+ miles away). It arrives quickly which saves me time and money. I believe in dog dental chews, no matter the price you pay, a cheaper brand or expensive brand. It means vet teeth cleaning goes easier and faster, less pain for the dog. For this brand I give a 1/4 of the "bone" to each dog right after they eat their meals so it knocks off some of the food left on the gums or teeth. I know people who don't think about it and are surprised when their poor dog has to have teeth removed every year. Plenty of brands out there, please use them I use them too, but prefer this when I can get it.

My dog will only eat these and LOVES them
I usually buy these at Costco, but they did not have them last time I was there. My black lab LOVES these and he is extremely picky. Other dental treats do not excite him the way these do. We call them tooth brushes. We give them to him every night after he goes outside and does his business. It started off as a reward for not chasing frogs, but now he knows exactly when it is time to brush his teeth. It really has helped the tarter buildup as well. We had gotten a rescue pup that the shelter thought was older due to the tarter on his teeth. A couple weeks of "brushing" his teeth, and the vet thinks he is under a year because the tarter is gone!

Our dog loves these Checkups, they are very hard ...
Our dog loves these Checkups, they are very hard to find in the stores. Our shepherd has a sensitive stomach and can't have the dental treats they sell in most stores. These don't seem to bother him and he looks forward to getting on every day.
