Huge, but works great
I don’t totally understand why other portable card readers can be so small in light with 2 to 3 SD ports, and this one has to be a brick! It even requires its own power supply. That said, I have to dump up to four cards every evening and this does the trick. The size and weight, and the power supply rather annoying but, I haven’t found any other reader that has four slots for SD cards. I wouldn’t call this portable, but if you were looking for a dedicated desk card reader + paper weight, it works well.

Worth the extra money if you only have SD cards.
I had originally purchased another multi card reader for my laptop in the $25-30 range on Amazon. First, I discovered that most of these cheap card readers may hold 2 or 3 sd cards, along with other types, but can't read any two of them simultaneously. My computer could only recognize one of the sd cards in the slots, but I needed all my sd cards to be recognied at the same time on my computer. Around this same time, my computer started crashing regularly. Turns out the cheap card reader was the culprit. We found that Its driver was causing corruption of other files and "page not found" Windows system errors. That's when I purchased THIS item and it's worth every cent. Yes, it has to be plugged into the wall, yes, it only handles sd (regular and micro) cards and it's 3x the price of these others - but it's the real thing, reliable, can read/write to all 4 sd cards simultaneously... and shouldn't crash your system!

Buyer Beware -- This Won't work with microSD in an SD adapter
Thought it might be worth mentioning that this thing won't read a microSD card that is inserted into this device via an SD adapter card. My MP3 player only reads microSD cards. I have no problem copying music to a microSD card that's plugged into my Mac via a microSD-to-SD adapter card. That said, I figured this StarTech product might be able to do the same thing--read a microSD card riding in an SD adapter. Guess I wasn't tech savvy enough to know there might be some reason it would actually not work. BTW, it really works fine with SD cards, so I guess I'll keep it.

Excellent, all 4 micro or regular SD cards upload fast at the same time.
After a long search I found this gem. Works great with SD cards of any kind and MICRO SD cards in the SD card adapter. (as of 5/18/2022)My best upload speed is 90mb/s with my cards. I had always gotten 19mb/s on my old readers, but now I'm uploading video on 4 64gb cards at the same time which cuts the wait time drastically.I can't believe a multi-sd-card reader is so rare. This is currently the only one on the market less than $150 at this time so I had to get it.

Like it was designed by Apple
Okay, besides this thing being fast (SO FAST), I like the design. It just FEELS quality. First...nice smooth, rounded corners. And, I know it doesn't relate to everyone, but it matches the space gray of my MBP. And, the final touch - there's a nice "rebound" when you insert the cards, just like in a camera. Too many other SD card readers just have you jam the card in there until you think it's seated. The insert, then slight springback just gives me better peace of mind. Well functioning and easy to use product. Love it!

One of the slots always says the sd card is read only.
Works but one of the slots always picks up the sd cards as read only so only 3 of the slots are usable.

Requires separate power source
Looks to be a nice unit but had to return as it requires a separate power source. This is just too much hassle when every other reader I have used is powered via USB. Seems like a big miss for such an expensive product.

TOP OF THE LINE PRODUCT!
Works as described. Delivered quickly. Very reliable and long lasting product! Value for money! Love my purchase! Better than external hard disk which often had issues, this one works like a charm, no bad clusters or spinning issues...works fine and copy and retrieve data super fast.

Works well just very poorly made, cheap plastic that rattles
Perfect concept just as soon as I took it out of the box you can feel how cheaply made it is. Top plastic piece rattles and slightly loose. Performance seems to be ok. Couldn’t get it mount on the USB C but works on USB A. Wanted to really like it. Would prefer some metal for the price
