MyStudio VS36LED Tabletop Lightbox Professional Photo Studio Kit with LED Lighting for Product Photography

Caveat: I'm not referring to taking eBay product photos in my review. Rather, I'm focusing my comments on taking product photos for high end websites selling expensive merchandise.This is a great kit, but I also purchased the $150 accessory 2 x 5000k light kit, and the extra lights make a big difference for my use, which is shooting clear glass perfume bottles and intricate crystal pieces.The extra lights can be used to vastly improve the results you get by using the front-only lighting that comes with this setup. They can be used for both side and back lighting, both of which are important in better defining glass edges and enhancing details. Your pic will "pop" much better with the two extra lights, although you'll still have to play around a lot to get comfortable with the setup and begin taking useful stats. I usually take at least 100 photos to yield one or two usable product images.For jewelry, but especially for diamonds, you should purchase and use the metal halide/tungsten halogen bulbs which are used as overhead lights in high end jewelry stores. Fortunately, I don't need them for my purposes.In general, if you are taking photos of products with a lot of intricate detail, or of high end products, you should not expect to be able to use your cell phone's camera to take great photos that can be used on a higher quality website. For this purpose, you'll likely need to use a good DSLR camera, or even better.

This product does the job it was designed for very, very well. That said, it was designed by photographers; with is why it works so well photographically, but is less than robust mechanically.The shortcomings are nothing awful mind you, and some components really are excellent. The cyclorama curved corner background is a simply excellent component. The 5000K lighting elements matched to the white chosen for this background is also excellent. Less excellent: - The diffusor/reflector mounted on the aluminum stand is only adequate - The stand is not particularly stable, and the reflector will vibrate or slowly waver unless these motions are damped in some way - The stand will balance fairly well on its own but MUCH prefers to be clamped down - it is not simple to assemble, but careful and thoughtful assembly will produce the correct result - the lighting element fixtures are finicky and easy to damage when removing the diffusor lenses - the fixtures are bolted to the aluminum frame, but tighten those bolts more than minimally necessary to hold it, and you will bow the body of the lighting fixture.Finally, due to the size of the area illuminated, this product greatly benefits from the paired additional lighting elements sold separately. Not absolutely essential depending on your needs. I found them essential.All this can be managed, and forgiven, because when it is all together (and improved as you see fit and need :) it works just as it should. I would buy it again, and recommend.

No instructions came with this, and believe me, you’ll want them. The holes on the hood don’t line up, there aren’t enough bolts in the box, and there are no bolts to attach the lights to the structure. How do I know this? Because I am building this POS based on the stinking photo they use to sell this garbage. Definitely not worth the money. The curved plastic base is fine, but the rest is trash. Do yourself a favor and find an alternative. I wish I had.15 minutes after writing the paragraph above:After looking at the photo more closely, I finally realized they did not include the second flap. Didn’t know what I was missing because there is no documentation. Am boxing it back up and shipping back. Ridiculous.

I have recently begun photographing other artists jewelry and glass. It has been a real challenge. I had one of those portable fold up studio's and was not satisfied with the pictures. I thought maybe it was the lighting so tossed the ones that came with it and used my studio lights instead which helped a lot, but still not what I was looking for... THEN I found MyStudio!!! WOW. I was finally able to shoot the pieces the way they needed to be shot.I am one of those who thinks when all else fails read instructions so set about to setup stand/lights... Big mistake. MyStudio send you the BEST instructions AND a CD with a video to watch the installation!!! Once I used what they provided, I had the studio setup very quickly. They truly provide the best support, instruction and material to put together your studio. Holes are drilled correctly (no shimming required) and they send all the parts needed. You only need to provide a screw driver.As I watched their very helpful video on sample shots I noticed their backdrop in their studio. The first time I setup the studio I set it up in a room on a drafting table instead of in my actual studio. While they do not advise you to use a dark room with a dark backdrop behind their studio, it really makes a HUGE difference. So that would be my only advice to someone getting this. I moved MyStudio to my actual studio where the room is totally dark, setup the black backdrop and that was the final piece to producing the best pictures!I truly do love MyStudio. My clients are now VERY satisfied with my work and I expect to have new clients soon based on how well this is going.

Awesome idea to have such setup for home studio, for product photography. It is large enough to accommodate different sizes of items . I really like all part of this product. When My Studio was received one of the light was broken, so I called Mr. Sean and in no time I have a new light set at home. Not only that he also provided me with other lamp that I can use as an assistant light no cost to me.He was very polite and friendly during telephone the conversation, very proffesinal and help me with some tips regarding postproscesing. Technical suppor awesome will recomend the My Studio VS36 to all products photograpers.Tank you
