These are fantastic. They are packed with a bit of oil, but mostly vinegar. They do have a slightly smokey taste, which is different than your typical sliced jalapenos, and the jar also includes some round slices of carrot. These have a complex flavor profile, so if you add it to the side of a meal or on top of enchiladas, etc, they taste WAY more like something homemade than if you just threw some typical jalapeno rounds on something.The liquid is so tasty that I often put a splash of it in soups, stews, sauces...anything that could benefit from a lift of flavor. In fact, I don't throw the excess liquid away, I just save it and use it in stuff like salsa verde, etc, to deepen the flavor...it adds four complex elements at once: 1)acidity 2) salt 3)heat (spice) 4) sodium.Definitely spicy, but not extreme. My husband enjoys this in salads, as a little side to any meat or stew entree. The uses are endless. (I've made a great cream cheese spread with this, chopped up, and also a wonderful spicy ham salad for sandwiches.)I did not buy them on Amazon because I buy them locally, but I WOULD buy them here if I needed to.By the way, it's best to transfer them immediately to a glass jar upon opening. If you do that, it will last indefinitely in your fridge....til someone can't stop putting it on everything!Obviously, if you've never had them, it might be hard to buy a 12 pack....but see if you can find a 1 or 2 pack, pay a bit more, and then you'll likely be back for a case at some point!

Excellent in beans!! I'm sure I'm going to find a lot of other dishes to enjoy them in. I was surprised to find these are slice lengthwise, instead of rings, like olives. You might want to chop before tossing in your dish.
