G.W. Schleidt YG625 Galileo Thermometer Cherry Stand 18-Inch Multicolored

I have wanted a Galileo Thermometer for years. I finally broke down and bought this one and I was not disappointed. The frame is beautiful and gives it a sophisticated look. I was going to put it on my office desk but it looked so good I put it in my living room instead. The only drawback is the weights can become lodged in the "up" position and will not drop until you lightly tap the case. It would seem the cylinder is a tad too large in circumference allowing the weighted spheres to wedge against each other.

I am very pleased with this purchase. I bought this to replace a plain glass one I had previously, which got knocked off the table and broke. I saw this style and liked the look of the cherry framing around it. It's actually a resin or plastic I think, but still looks very nice.

I'm quite fond of Galileo thermometers They are beautifully accurate, and my husband can't lie to me about how cool the house is during this hot, dry summer. This design is particulary nice with its wood grained frame and so many multi-colored orbs. The first one arrived broken in a badly beaten box with a large hole in the side. The return was simple, and the replacement arrived quickly and better-packaged.

I was so excited to have found the perfect gift for my dad's birthday. However, when it arrived, it was broken. Nowhere on the box was the package labeled 'FRAGILE', and you could hear the glass rattling around. Inside the shipping box, there was just some brown shipping paper. The liquid inside the thermometer is FLAMMABLE, so when I boxed it up to ship it back for a refund, the post office wrote me a nasty letter (and brought my box back) when it started to leak...again. Told me I 'could have been responsible for crashing a plane' trying to mail an 'oily, flammable liquid in a box'.I wish the product had been shipped differently - it might have been a really special gift.

Bought this as a Christmas Exchange gift - hoping I would get it back. When it was finally fully opened, I could really tell how nice this piece was. The cherry finish did not look cheap and it actually made it look super nice. It is a fragile piece though. You have to handle with care.It is not plasticy as some may have noted.I hope it goes on sale so I can buy another.

Bought this as a gift for my mom who has always wanted one. I really like the cherry finish to it. It operates perfectly and is a great addition to the space. The wood is a little on the light side (weight wise) and would blow over with a breeze or get knocked over by children/pets. If it is kept low to the ground or reinforced at the bottom then it is perfect! Overall very satisfied.

Actually, it's a better design with the cherry wood frame. It adds a perfect accent color and provides more protection. Get the largest size your decor can handle--it will amplify its stunning beauty. A perfect blend of art and science. Everyone will love it!

It's certainly very aesthetically pleasing. Does it actually work, who know?? lol. But let's be serious, no one is going to buy this for an accurate temperature reading.
