Positively Delightful! A fabulous read/gift for anyone with "Scandi" roots
Had me giggling from the introduction - a fantastic, easy read and delightful gift for anyone with Scandi-roots. Makes for a beautiful coffee table book or decor when you're done reading but I encourage you to pass it along to someone else and share the love. There is light-hearted information about everything from food, wardrobe, sports, HYGGE, coffee, relationships, how to properly Sauna and a section on IKEA that is especially funny.

A great read! Loved❤
A lot of information, some recipes and humour. Covers the BIG three nordic countries: Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Highly recommend.

So So
A lot of repeated and regurgitated stuff. Some parts interesting but just looked like it was thrown together.

Beautiful, humorous Nordic guidebook
I’m of Spanish & German descent, but remain interested in other countries/cultures; I visited Sweden 10 years ago and loved it, only wish I could have stayed more than a few days during a layover. This book, by far, is the best guide to Scandinavian/Nordic cultures — or any culture different from mine, that I’ve ever read. It’s humorous, inventive, eloquent and the photography is breath-taking. I especially loved the recipes and tried a few! I’ve been looking into traveling to a few Nordic countries so this book was perfect for said research. Well done! Highly recommend!

An educational, beautiful and funny book
I loved this book. As a second generation Swede, it helped me understand my restrained, somewhat enigmatic family. The author's humor was wonderful, and made me laugh out loud every time I picked it up. I am ordering it today to give to a friend who wants to learn more about his Danish heritage.

Great read!
Super informative and basically tells you all about their culture and some insight of heritage. I hope they make a second one! I’m a big fan of learning about other cultures and would love more! Also lots of lovely pictures and illustrations!

Simplistic view of Scandinavians
This book was interesting but simplistic in its descriptions of Scandinavians. They generalize all Norwegians to be one way, Swedes another, so on and so on.

A beautiful and funny book about Scandinavia!
I love the Scandikitchen in London and as such have been following their blog for a while. I found myself coming back to some articles every now and then (because they were funny and spot on) and was happy to find some in this book in physical form. However I would like to reassure that most of the content is unique to this book and will set clear some common beliefs and assumptions about most things Scandinavian. You will finally find out how to look Swedish (who would not want to?) and how to decorate your flat Copenhagen style. You will have the record straight on how the dating scene actually works and the social faux-pas in saunas that must be avoided. You will of course discover a lot about local traditions, food, culture, politics (and a lot more) and brush up your knowledge on their Royal families (and thus probably score extra points next time you watch ‘the chase’ or ‘eggheads’).This book will make you chuckle but mostly feel like you are being told these stories by a cool friend who does not take herself seriously in comfortable surroundings (how hygge). Oh and the illustrations and photography are absolutely beautiful. If you love all things Nordics you will adore this book and will probably find yourself picking it up quite often even after finishing reading it.

Heartwarming trip
Are you Scandinavian, in a relationship with one or just Scandi-curious? Then this is definitely the book for you. I haven't lived in Sweden for 20 years so for me it was a heartwarming trip down memory lane. It's an easy read with lots of real and fun facts. If you know and care about a Swedish person in your life, then quickly head to page 134... memorise each point!North is written really well and complimented by some stunning photographs which enhances the experience. So grab the book, a brew, snuggle up and enjoy!

Lovely book
It was a nicely laid out and informative book, at times funny as well. Overall it is a very good read, a good introduction to Scandinavia, but clearly written with an English speaking audience in mind. For example when it states the "best Scandinavian words with no equivalent" it should have said with no English equivalent, because for example 'Folkefest' (Norwegian for people party) is called 'volksfeest' in Dutch and means exactly the same. This alongside a few other examples that are not just seen in Scandinavia made the book lose its fifth star. Also it would have been nice if there was an index with the (otherwise lovely) pictures so you know what you're looking at.

This book is a joy.
This book is a joy. Written with a firm tongue in the cheek, it is chock-ful of a wide variety of information alongside unapologetic evangelism about all things Scandinavian. Recipes, politics, history and family life are all topics covered. Warmth oozes from every page and without realising it, you will suddenly find yourself craving ginger biscuits and cinnamon buns with a pot of coffee come the weekend. I loved it.

Goes much deeper than most books on Scandi lifestyles
Having read a few books on Hygge and Lagom I was really fascinated by the lifestyles of people living in the Scandinavian countries and why they do regularly top the happiness charts. This book takes you much deeper into the ways people live and in particular the differences between life in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. I really enjoyed this book because of the deeper and more detailed analysis and the style of writing which I found engaging. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who’s interested in Scandinavian lifestyles but who has been left wanting more by other books.
