ChillowPLUS Original Deluxe 2-sided Cooling Pillow Pad and Cool Relief Wrap

I've been a Chillow user for 7 years or so. Had the "Originals" until they finally sprung leaks. Bought these because they said it was bigger. Well, it's actually SMALLER than the Original, MUCH THINNER and DOESN'T COOL like the Originals did. No Way, shape or form. This might cool me for 1/2 -1 hour AT MOST until it gets totally hot and is useless. I'm going to try and find the Original Chillow..... and if not, will look in the pet section for one of their chill mats for dogs. For the cost, and what I know about the original Chillow, this unit not worth the price.............period.***********************NOTE******************************************OK, call me crazy, but because the Chillow Plus was so skimpy, flimsy, thin and didn't get me through the night, I checked out PET COOLING BEDS........and ended up buying the "K&H Cool Bed III" Cooling Dog Bed, size MEDIUM, 22-Inches by 32-Inches" WOW IS ALL I CAN SAY. It's HUGE compared to the chillow plus and they were almost the same price....heavy duty too. Also, when filled with water, it weighs quite a bit, so don't be surprised. It covers my entire back from neck to kidneys and shoulder to shoulder....I'm 5'2". It's covering isn't as "soft" textured as the chillow, but if you need areas to be more cooled" this beauty is for you. It's not uncomfortable to sleep on, but I suppose you could fashion some kind of cover for it. Same principal as the chillow......fill it with water, squeeze out excess and it's ready to use. The cover is made to withstand dogs nails......so it's heavy duty. So I use the chillow plus for my pillow until it heats up and is useless and the K&H COOL BED for my body......and it gets me through the night. Check it out on Amazon, and for the price and size, it beats the pants off the Chillow Plus hands down.

HOW TO ACTIVATE CHILLOW COOLING PILLOW (LARGE SIZE): All you do with this pillow is unroll it from the package (it's very flat), pop open the cap, fill the pillow with 8-10 cups of warm water, and lay it flat for 4 hours in order to activate it. You aren't required to do that again. Then, you begin at the bottom of the pillow and slowly roll it towards the end with the water cap. At some point, you will open the cap and allow the trapped air to escape. To keep the pillow cool, it must have as LITTLE air in it as you can manage. All water and no air equals coolness!! It works like a waterbed, wicking heat from your body. I found that laying on it made it feel cool, not just picking it up. It can feel slightly cooler than body temperature when you pick it up, but when you rest against it, it feels cool. You can also refrigerate it for extra coolness, but you aren't supposed to freeze it because apparently you can ruin it that way.POSITIVES: The pillow offers a pleasant, obvious coolness without refrigeration. It can be positioned on the back of an upholstered chair or the couch, as well as slipped into a bed pillow and slept on all night. You can position it crosswise, from shoulder to shoulder---this way covers the shoulders and upper/mid back and the neck. OR, you can lay it lengthwise, from back of neck to lower back and lay back against it.NEGATIVES: The pillow is very thin and yet it is very very heavy for it's size. The package says it should weigh about 5 pounds when filled. Because of its weight and the fact that it's made of lightweight plastic, it tends to slip out of position if placed inside pillow cover over your night-time pillow. Position it in a chair and sit forward and it will slip down so you'll have to re-position it. But because of the weight and because of the softness of the plastic envelope and the thinness of the material it's made from (it needs to be thin to do its job), you must take care not to puncture the pillow.SUMMARY: I would like to see the negatives corrected but I think this is about as good as it gets as far as night time comfort goes, and I have used the pillow during the day when hit with a hot flash---all in all, I have found this product easy enough to use and it's very refreshing and convenient (moreso than jumping into a cool shower every couple of hours)! And the fact that it is pliable enough to be rolled up and cooled further in the refrigerator if needed is a nice plus.

I have been using the Chillow Plus for a little over a year now, and I use it daily. I find sleeping very hard without it, however it does have some pretty awful drawbacks, so here we go:The Chillow is heavy once you fill it with water, I have no problem with that as I use a Tempurpedic pillow which can take the weight of the Chillow without a problem. If you use thin or fluffy pillows then the Chillow will crush it flat.The Chillow also has an intense plasticy smell for the first few weeks, it gradually goes away but if you have a serious problem with plasticy smells, reconsider.The feel of the chillow underneath my head is fantastic, it is firm but malleable and the feel of water under my head is soothing.From the reviews of others, as well as my own experience, Chillows seem to expire in one year at which point they start leaking. If this happens, throw the Chillow away immediately, holes left long enough will allow the growth of moss within, quite disgusting.Chillows also stay cool for many hours, but on waking up you will find a pretty warm water pad under your head. For this reason I always buy two of them, and switch them around whenever needed. Ambient temperature also affects the Chillow, so hotter areas will turn your Chillow warmer faster. On the other hand putting your Chillow in a fridge for 15-30 minutes will make it that much cooler and will stay cool longer (I keep it fridged for 60 minutes where it becomes freezing cold).This review may seem more negative than positive, however I still gave it 4 stars because I can live with all the negatives and it makes my sleep 10x more comfortable. It would get 5 stars if it didn't break on yearly basis.Bottom line: Amazing product if you know and accept its flaws.

i have suffered with hot sweats in the night for a long time , so i bought the chillow pillow . it is fantastic ! since ive had it , i havnt woke up sweating , and i also get over to sleep much easier .i just wish id bought it earlieralso it was delivered really quickly

I was happy with this product when I first bought it but after a few months use, and after trying to refill with water to keep it cool, I am very unhappy. Lost shape and is not easy to keep flat when attached to a pillow. Would not purchase again. Waste of money. Better off using a fan in bedroom.

love that this pillow is cold. bit too big as it is a full size pillow so you get brain freeze. would love it to be half the width so it could just cover my neck.found that if i put it under my normal pillow and put my wrists on it, i cool down quite quickly.
