I have a combination type of facial skin. The kind of pimples I get when I break out is the cystic type. I tired Proactive, Clinique, drugstore products and two dermatologist-prescribed regimens but none of them gave me a long-term good results. Somehow, I feel that either they are too harsh for my skin or that they don't work for my skin type. So I did my research. I found Acne.org which was the answer to my problem. My skin cleared up, but it was time to buy soap again. I did not want to purchase the whole set because I want to save some money and for me, what I really need is their Benzoyl Peroxide. That was the key to Acne.org's regimen. They listed some alternative products. This is one of the recommended alternative soap by the founder of the Acne.org regimen. Purpose has a very, very faint scent to almost none, lathers up quickly, and cleanses my skin without leaving my skin feeling tight and dry. Immediately after washing my face with this soap, I moisturize using Olay with SPF 15 (gentle formula). I have been using this soap for more than a year now and I don't plan to switch to other "gentle" soaps. By the way, I haven't used Benzoyl Peroxide daily, only spot treatment, for more than six months now and my skin is still great. Within this one year period of using Pupose, I tried to use Neutrogena's bar soap for oily skin which initially was fine until I started to break out after two or three days of twice-a-day use. I switched back to this soap and used BP, then my skin cleared up again. One day, I went out of town to visit and stay with a friend for the weekend. I forgot to bring this soap (Purpose), but my friend offered to give me Ivory which is "gentle" for skin. So I tried the soap that she offered (Ivory), which did not cause my face to break out, however, it did make my skin dry that weekend. When I came back home, I started using this soap again, then my skin felt better. Because of the results of this trial and error search process in finding the right soap (and regiment) for my type of skin, I resolved to use only this soap until J&J would no longer produce this product (which I hope will happen). In my experience, I highly recommend this soap, specially for sensitive and/or acne-prone skin.

It is very gentle on the face. I use it for adult acne for this reason.It does not dry the shin or irritate.It works great.

Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash should be called Perfect Gentle Cleansing Wash! I have used this face wash for years and have nothing negative to say about Purpose. I am an older user and have people commenting all the time how I don't look my age. I wash my face in the morning with Purpose and moisturize with an excellent product Fashion 220 moisturizer (this of course is a personal preference), I follow the same routine at night before bed. The one thing I was taught when in my 20's (xx years ago) was after moisturizing to put a little cool water on your hands and pat your face.From a internet search and is exactly what I was taught many years ago- "The fact is that skin is an organ, and just like any other part of the body. your skin is made up of cells. And skin cells, like any other cell in the body, are made up of water. Without water, the organs will certainly not function properly or at their best. If your skin is not getting the sufficient amount of water, the lack of hydration will present itself by turning your skin dry, tight and flaky. Dry skin has less resilience and is more prone to wrinkling"I am a firm believer in the above quote. It has proven itself on me.Keep in mind the pros of the Purpose Cleansing Wash: Gentle Cleansing (as gentle as water), Oil Free (oil clogs pours), Hypoallergenic (most skin will accept use of Purpose without issues), Purpose will not clog pours, and it is for all skin types.This cleanser takes such a small dab probably the size of a small lima bean to wash your face and neck area (don’t forget to take care of your neck too! As you age that will become important) What more can you ask for.?The price is so affordable and even though I read of some complaints 16 oz vs. 12 oz. Amazon has never been anything but helpful in rectifying any issue with any order. I never worry about ordering ANYTHING from Amazon or from one of their sellers.

I tried one of those nose strips after using Purpose for awhile. Nothing came off onto the nose strip! My skin and pores were so clean without the product drying out my skin !!

I love washing my hands and face with this. It has a subtle smell that I find to be very pleasing. It does not clean my pores so mainly use it for washing hands. Very gentle but very expensive. It does last a long time so maybe it will last long enough to be worth the high price tag.

I love the smell of this product and how it even cleans the cloth I use to get my makeup off if I scrub it well :) great product for a great price:) I will be buying it again, as I have been using this for a few years now:)
