## Description

From the moment beans are ground, coffee's fullest flavors immediately begin to escape. Therefore, using freshly ground beans will always give you the best taste. We at the Mr. Coffee® brand recommend Burr Mill Grinders for the richest-tasting, most-flavorful cup of coffee you can experience. Burr Mills are the best method to grind whole coffee beans, as they are designed with plates rather than blades to grind the bean more uniformly. The Mr. Coffee® Automatic Burr Mill makes grinding beans fast and easy with one simple touch. No hassle, no mess! Effortlessly go from bean to cup for the most enjoyable, satisfying coffee flavor. Be sure to grind beans right before use to enjoy the freshest cup possible! Great for French Press and Espresso too!

Review: FAST grind, and great for drip makers! - Likes: Fast grinding, even oily beans. Does a nice job, and not too noisy when the COVER is put on, otherwise- it's noticeably louder. Just a little finer than medium, is how we grind our coffee. Grinds are just right for our Mr. Coffee, and Black And Decker 12 cup drip makers- Yes we have two drip coffee makers, my wife doesn't drink her coffee as strong as I like it. Dislikes: You cannot use this machine continuously to grind say, a can's worth, like I usually do. It will thermally shut down. It specifically says so in the manual. Our now deceased Cuisinart did the same thing. So, grind what you need, and if it shuts off, just wait a while to resume. Polycarbonate plastic grinds cups WILL crack and break if you hit them, or tap them on something to get all the grinds out. Don't do that! The Cuisinart had that issue, and I'm going to be much more careful with this one. Overall, if you're not a really snobby coffee eccentric, that needs perfectly uniform conical cut beans, this grinder works great. It's reasonably priced, and I like it a bit better than the Cuisinart.
Review: Great Grinder for Low Price - I've been using my new grinder for 2 days now and I am very pleased with it. It is easy to use, looks good on the counter top, grinds fast and my coffee tastes great. I'm glad I chose this one instead of one of the more expensive ones with good reviews, this one has all the functionality that I need to make delicious coffee. I use it to grind coffee beans for espresso and french press, also for a drip machine (which I gladly tossed in the bin after getting a french press.) **** UPDATE March 10th, 2012**** I've had this grinder now for about 7 months, and still going strong! Yes, it sometimes gets coffee grounds on the counter when scooping it out but I've never seen a grinder that doesn't do that. However, I have regularly two problems with this grinder: 1. Sometimes the beans don't go through properly while grinding or get stuck, so I tend to shake it and hit the bottom gently against the counter top to get them to go on through. This is not a huge deal. Happened with my last grinder as well. 2. It likes to get clogged. The opening where the grounds come out often just plugs up completely. This happens on a regular basis (every 6-10 weeks or so maybe), especially when I grind a lot of oily dark roasted beans. To solve the problem I unplug it, remove the beans, canister, and other parts. I take something to loosen the coffee grounds that are plugging up the hole. It'll work again after that, but to really get the job done I also make sure that the grinder elements are clear, and run some rice through the grinder a couple of times. The rice picks up a lot of those oils and residue that builds up on the inside of the machine. When I've done that it works like new again. I will stick for now with my 5 star rating. We use our grinder twice every day and it is still working fine. For the really low price of this grinder I can't complain. **** UPDATE January, 2015**** Still works! :-)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: is this grinder good for expresso**
A: Yes, No, Yes. It produces something a little bit finer than granulated sugar. Which is as good as most store coffee grinders. And lots of people use that as espresso grind.
Personally, I like my espresso grounds to be finer than that. And I got this machine exactly for that reason: It is hackable, and after lifting the bottom burr by 0.12mm (adding an aluminum shim underneath) it now does consistently fine powder.

**Q: Is the grinder hands free**
A: Yes it totally is hands free. You can set the grind and number of cups you want and then press a button. Your fresh grounds go into the clear hopper. Hope this helps. : D

**Q: Does the hopper keep the beans fresh? Is it air tight?**
A: No, the hopper is not air tight. But, once you open a bag of coffee beans, that is not air tight either. This should not influence your decision. It is a very good burr mill, well worth the $$$$$.

**Q: Does the grinder shut off automatically?**
A: Yes. After the set time you set is up, the machine shuts off.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Generally well designed and a great value vs. Cuisinart-DBM-8
*by R***G on July 8, 2013*

For a decade I have owned Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill or a similar earlier model, all of which cost about $50.00. These units predictably fail within 18-24 months, grinding 1 or 2 servings of coffee beans per day. I thought I would give Mr. Coffee a chance. Advantages Over Cuisinart-DBM-8 -Much more compact, takes up considerably less counterspace, easier to pull out and maneuver -Is less noisy and the noise itself is less high-pitched. The Cuisinart-DBM-8 is very loud. -Costs $20.00 less -The bin which catches the ground coffee is a made of type of plastic which resists caking of ground coffee to the plastic. It's much better than the Cuisinart-DBM in this respect. The plastic must have a different composition. -Once you get past the learning curve (see below) it's easier to remove the plastic coffee bin -Reliability vs. Cuisinart-DBM-8 is an open question Design Flaws and Workarounds: -Inexcusably there is piercing blue light that stays on when the unit is plugged in, serving no purpose by the way. This is what you might see on a gamer's PC. I covered it w/black electrical tape. - The plastic top that covers the bin is poorly designed. The ridge is not tactile at all and it takes two hands to take it off. I retrofitted mine with a piece of soft rubber that I put on with double stick tape above the ridge. Now I can remove it w/one hand -To pull out the coffee bin/hopper, you have to place you hand against a ledge above the hopper and then slide out the bin using your hand as leverage. It's a weird non-intuitive design. With the Cuisinart-DBM-8, you just take one hand and pull the hopper out. You can't do that with this unless you have the hands of a basketball center. Overall this is a much better value than the Cuisinart-DBM-8. It does have its quirks and learning curve though. Update: Still works great w/my retrofits. However, don't put coffee beans in it the night before. If it jams and won't come on, just screw out the assembly, turn it over and shake, remove fine powder from area where coffee goes into plastic bin and you're good to go. This has only happened once. Unit is a steal.
