STEER CLEAR!!!
UPDATE: I spent a lot of money on these shelves, purchasing 7 of different sizes. They were wonderful at first and after the first season, they continuously fall down, breaking pot holders, breaking plants, killing plants if they fall in the morning and I don't get home until evening. Roots do dry out on the tiny succulents fast.I am so disappointed that the company made a product that worked for a short time so everyone would leave great reviews but it wouldn't last at which point, they didn't care. The description says "indefinitely".Just to quell any opinions and input. Yes, I have tried ways of cleaning and applying and different windows, etc. That only lead to more falls and breaks.I ordered one or two after scouring the internet for something that would allow me to hang my plants up but not out of view or out of sunshine. The main reason was my cat. She loved trying to get to my poor succulents doing their best to thrive, never mind the poison aspect. So, they arrived and were perfect. Minimal, sturdy, safe (ledge). I love that they are right near my desk for me to admire but high enough the bored Siamese isn't snacking on danger. The only thing I would change is the white knobs. It would be great if they were clear. But even that is only if I am looking for something to complain about. By the way, I went back and bought 6 more!

Not quite there yet...
This window sill shelf is, in my opinion, a brilliant idea - but its actual execution is a bit lacking. I really wanted to love it - and buy several more, in fact - but it's just not quite working for me. The suction cups are very strong and the shelf has stayed on the window (over 3 weeks now) without a problem. But...it tilts forward. Right now I'm using it to ripen tomatoes in the sunlight, and if it weren't for the built-in ledge on the front, they'd be rolling off onto the floor because of the tilted angle of the shelf. If it were nice and level, not only would it perform much better but it would just flat out LOOK so much nicer. Right now it kind of has a "sloppy" look - like someone just couldn't be bothered to hang it correctly. Which, of course, is not the case at all. I am a big fan of symmetry, order, organization, and all things in their rightful place. This tilting shelf looks out of place amongst the rest of my kitchen, I'm sorry to say.Now here's what I finding interesting...every single photo of this shelf on Amazon's description page shows it sitting perfectly straight and level, no matter what is sitting on it. So this leads me to think it CAN be done, but I don't have any idea why I can't get it to work that way. I did try writing to the seller to ask about it, but their only suggestion was to make sure to clean the window and suction cups first. This does help it adhere wonderfully well, but did nothing to help the tilting problem. To their credit, they offered to refund my money if I wasn't satisfied - but I've held off taking that option because I so want MY shelf to look like the photos of THEIR shelf. But so far, no luck. And quite honestly, based on the photos AND the not-inexpensive $16.00 price tag, I really think the shelf should perform the way we're led to expect it will.Again, I'd like to reiterate that I think the IDEA of this shelf is not only a brilliant one but a much-needed one as well. I've seen similar type shelves that offer additional "legs" that can be put under the shelf to keep them from tilting, and maybe that's the only alternative, I don't know. Personally I'm not a fan of the "leg" look because I think it adds too much more "stuff" to the shelf, takes up more space on the window, and just doesn't have that classy, simple look of the "floating" shelf. If there is a way to get these shelves to be LEVEL once they're attached to the window, that would make them - in my book - absolutely perfect. In the meantime, I can't wholeheartedly recommend them.

Works with no windowsill **but read about exception
I recently moved into a new apartment where my bedroom did not have any windowsills. I was concerned because I have a lot of succulents. The way the windows are in the apartment helped so much. ****There was a little lip on the windows so I put more weight on it then it could normally tolerate since it could rest some of the weight on the window. I posted pictures that show this. So far so good, I'm interested to see how it will hold in the winter when the windows get cold. It's October and they have been up since August.

Bird feeder!
I purchased this with the intention of displaying a plant on my bathroom window. The same day the shelf arrived my mom mentioned how nice it would be to get a better look at our backyard birds. I showed her the shelf and watched her face shift from confusion to joy. We are so pleased to see how well it works. I cleaned the window and suction cups with rubbing alcohol. I gave the suction cups a wet kiss and firmly pressed them against the glass. I sprinkle black oil sunflower seeds on our makeshift platform feeder. It's not going anywhere unless I want it to; it's securely stuck in place. Through rain, wind, and temperature changes it's unfailing. My mom is tickled to see the blackcap chicadees up close.Additionally, I'm aware that window bird feeders exist, but I had this on hand and it's less expensive. Maybe for my sweet mother's birthday I'll buy the real deal.

CRAP!!! Doesn't hold at all
Piece of crap. Can't hold anything. Terrible, bcz I trusted this (and all the good reviews) and it killed my orchid babies together they are just about 1 lb. can't hold anything, I'm so upset with the results. Would never buy again. Also, wouldn't write this review but they keep harassing me about wringing a good review q3days. Terrible product. DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.

So tough, I'm using it for my iPad mini.
Works excellently. I'm using it as a windowsill prop for my iPad mini, to use while I wash dishes & work in the kitchen. Especially since my main source of recipes lately are googled. This makes my cookbook easily within reach, and yet not in the way.

Suction VS Frost
I live in Iowa and I bought this because it's winter (10 degrees F). I needed to move my window plants inside. I was afraid the frost would not work with this shelf. On day 2 the window froze and I noticed one of the auctions started slipping slightly. I took it off, wiped off the moisture, and reattached the shelf. I've had it for a week now and seems like it's fine. So far so good! It's fairly strong. It was difficult to pull of even when only one suction was sticking to the window. I would recommend.
