Good on basics, not totally user friendly
I have used LP for 20 years in part because initially it provided gen and basic info not easily acquired elsewhere. I use Rick Steves for Europe. However, dramatically improved online resources have undermined LP's value and timeliness. Generally, Google , Google Earth, Hostelworld etc are infinitely more complete and timely. Specifically, Google & Google Earth are far more accurate, up to date and complete for lodging, restaurants, travel, and gen site info (Wiki). Now I use LP primarily to provide a ruff outline of my travels which I then throughly research online. Those who do little research then fly -- referencing a guidebook as they go will find LP useful although their travel time wasted, missed opportunities, costs and out right dangers will be quantum leaps beyond mine. Further, LP's paranoid limitation on copying portions for building your own itinerary is frustrating vs most unfettered online resources. Good Luck tho.

A lot of stuff, fairly well organized
Not many pictures, but a pretty decent guide to many places and areas. Haven't been back to that area in many decades, but loved Kuching and the E&O hotel in Penang

I normally like Insight travel books with lots of photographs
I normally like Insight travel books with lots of photographs. I find it very difficult getting around using an e book for planning purposes and was disappointed.
