Mi Buenos Aires Querido My Beloved Buenos Aires Tangos Among Friends

There are many ways to present any tango song, depending on instrumentation,vocal or non-vocal, big band, small band, individual, etc.Having been retired in BsAs from NYC for many years, I have been able to heartango songs presented in many different ways, and I happen to like them all.But this rendering struck me immediately because it is both intimate andalmost symphonic in its presenttion, but with an incredible amount of clarityand "tango soul," which is the killer ingredient.Most reviewers agree that this is a CD for the Ages, and I would recommendit to anyone whose music appreciation extends to this national musica. Itis simply a tour de force.

This recording captures the essence of Buenos Airs in its music - both melodies and rhythms. Daniel Barenboim, who spent his early years in B.A. obviously remembers that time in his life and with musicians, Rudolfo Mederos on bandoneon and Hector Console on bass provide a vivid musical picture in "My Beloved Buenos Aires".

I first heard a song from this CD in the home of an Argentine family in Buenos Aires after hearing Barenboim conduct Aida in the Teatro Colon the night before. When I purchased it the next day, the man in the CD store closed his eyes, touched his heart, and said simply, "This CD." That's my feeling exactly. My favorite CD of all time. You don't have to love tango to love this music. Simply exquisite.

Good music. Not my favorite but very good nevertheless. Clear and dramatic on my 9.2 system. Very danceable. I dream of someone encoding tango in DTS for surround goodness. Still very nice music.

Barenboim is playing one the the most beautiful, throaty pianos I have ever heard in my life! And he's playing the sensuous Argentine music he remembers from his childhood in Buenes Aires. His sidemen are simply extraordinary. I treasure this album as one of my lop ten contemporary music collections.

I'm biased - I like tango anyway. But, the real appeal of this disc is the excellent playing of a top rate concert pianist, Daniel Barenboim. That he hails from Buenos Aires adds great poignancy to the interpretations. And it has lots of Piazzolla and Carlos Gardel tracks,I have owned this CD for decades, but bought this copy to convince a friend of its qualities.The disc, its case and the notes were in 'as new' condition, and offered the additional consumer advantage that the irritating cellophane wrapping had already been removed by the previous owner!

This is a superb cd by Barenboim - absolutely beautiful. There is a good selection including a couple by Gardel and several by Piazzolla & others. It's all magical stuff.

A set of beautiful tunes with the heart and soul of Tango. La Moza Donoza by Ginastera is one of my favourite all-time piano solos. Most tunes include piano and bandoneon.

I was disappointed with this CD. It simply did not meet my expectations.

Ich bin kein Kenner der Tango-Szene, aber jedem sollte klar sein, dass man bei den Namen Barenboim und Astor Piazzolla in erster Linie Musik mit starkem "klassischem" Einschlag zu hören bekommt, also keinen Tango in Form von Tanzmusik, wie man es sich vielleicht denken könnte. Nein, hier wird auf allerhöchstem Niveau im Duo oder Trio musiziert.Das ist Musik der edelsten Sorte, grandios auch von der Technik eingefangen. Man kann das sogar mit meiner eher mittelmäßigen Anlage hören, als ob man unmittelbar dabei sitzen würde. Man spürt es quasi, wie die Musiker sich in die Stücke denken und fühlen, wie sicher und souverän sie zu Werke gehen.Ich höre dieses Album immer wieder, seitdem ich es damals gekauft habe. Man muss aber in Stimmung sein dafür. Um es so "nebenbei" zu hören, wie hier auch jemand geschrieben hat, ist diese Musik einfach zu gut gespielt und komponiert.Das ist ein Album, was man mit Sternen nicht bewerten kann, denn es ist meiner Meinung besser als es die fünf möglichen Sterne sagen können. Einfach kaufen, hinsetzen, entspannen und zuhören, es lohnt sich wirklich jede einzelne Note !!

Mi spiace per chi torcera' il naso, ma questa e' musica di puro piacere d'ascolto, perché e' raffinata, e' ben suonata, e' easy listening, e' oramai un classico, per l'uso - anche spropositato - che se ne fa nei contesti più disparati.Se un pianista - e direttore - come Barenboim ha deciso di dedicare al tango (così come al jazz Tribute to Ellington) il suo tempo, un motivo profondo, e non solo di campanile, ci sarà. O no? Io credo proprio di sì. Non scappate per il solo fatto che Piazzolla è inflazionato (e anzi provate quello di Yo Yo Ma Piazzolla:Tangos). Sarebbe come fuggire da Mozart o Beethoven perché altrettanto pieni ne sono i contesti di ogni sorta nei quali i Nostri sono impiegati.Il tango e Piazzolla, in particolare, sono entrati nell'immaginario collettivo come, dicevo, un classico e allora godiamocelo interpretato da chi gli strumenti li fa cantare con armonici più pieni di altri.Grazie Maestro Daniel Barenboim! Una tra le piu' belle direzioni d'orchestra dedicate al Tango a cura del Maestro Daniel Barenboim. Spicca "Don Agustin Bardi" di Horacio Salgan, ma anche le "stagioni" porteñe di Piazzolla... Nota negativa che non incide sulla qualità del CD, ma se non si ha cura e accortezza potrebbe danneggiarlo, è la scarsa attenzione all'imballaggio e/o la mancata cura del corriere/postino...

Quien no lo conozca, que lo compre. Quien conozca a Barenboim como director y no su faceta de pianista de tangos, que lo compre. Quien ame el tango, que lo compre. Y quien no conozca ni a los músicos del disco o ni siquiera el tango, que corra a comprarlo ...... y a todos, si lo encuentran, porque es un disco antiguo.

Para todo buen melónamo esta música rezuma poesía, calidez y un ritmo tanguero que anida para siempre en la retina del/a oyente.Es un inmeso placer, sin olvidarnos de la música clásica de este gran director de orquesta, sentir como los sutiles compases pianísticos interpretados por Daniel Baremboim, y el dúo qie le acompaña, acarician el piano para hacernos palpitar el corazón en cada compás y rejuvenecer con ello los grandes compositores del tango argentino.En definitiva un incunable que no debería faltar en los estantes de todo amante de la música en mayúsculas.

Un disco unico che racconta nella purezza dei suoni l’essenza del tango e della musica argentina. Un piacere di ascolto assoluto.

Als Reiseerinnerung, wenn man mal zuhause wieder die schönen Gefühle aufleben lassen will. Ja, das ist etwas sehr nettes, wenn es mal Kultur sein darf.

die CD entspricht nicht meinem Geschmack, was aber nichts mit der musikalischen Qualität zu tun hat. Es ist auf keinen Fall Musik, die man so nebenbei hören kann.

Großartig welche Facetten des einzigen Weltstars aus Berlin ( Zitat: Wowereit ) ich noch entdecken kann. Sehr schön auch das Beiheft zur CD, das erstens lustige Kinderbilder von Barenboim zeigt, und außerdem seine Gedanken zu dieser Musik, die ihm hörbar am Herzen liegt. Ein Muss für Barenboimfans.
