A little more money for a LOT better projector.
This is the best product you can buy for the price, and I did a LOT of research before making this purchase.First a little background. I bought a new house last year, and a frog room was set up perfectly to be a theater room, and all of my friends kept goading me about it. My argument against it was I knew nothing about these projectors, so finally, I started researching it.I found hundreds of projectors ranging in price from $45 to $500 and up. I was on a budget, so I had to find out what the difference was between these cheaper models and the more expensive ones. What I found was that most people consider mostly the pixels, but for a media projector, that's only a one part of the equation, and not even the most important part, depending on what you want to use it for. The other thing I discovered was that there seemed to be a lot of these cheap $50 models, and really expensive $300 or $500 models, without much in between. Well now there finally is.Basically, there are three things you want to consider when purchasing one of these projectors. One is the pixels or sharpness of image, the other is the Lumens, which is how bright it is, and the third is the contrast, which no one seems to know exactly what it means, but it has to do with the difference between the brightest and darkest images it projects. Now you have to ask yourself what you want to use it for? If it is Power Point presentations, Lumens is the most important aspect, because you can't have a completely dark room, so you're going to need something pretty bright, like 1000 lumens or higher. If you are like me, and just want to show movies in a home theater, that pesky illusive contrast thing is most important. Pixels comes somewhere in between for both needs, and while not the most important, you should still keep an eye on them.So after reading up on this, I went back and looked up ton of projectors here on Amazon, and after looking at a ton of projectors with a wide range of all three of the aspects I just mentioned, I was completely confused. Finally, I found a review with a video of the projector's image. It was a cheaper model, and while it looked okay, the image it projected was small, not as big as the area I had to project a movie. But this prompted me to search You Tube for many more projectors and actually see what they looked like. Then I could compare the images on many different projectors, and look at their stats at the same time. Finally, I came up with this model. Why? It costs a little more than the cheapest $50 models, but you getting a LOT more for your money. While the cheapest models had lumens as low as 50, this one is 150. You still have to keep the room pretty dark to watch a movie, but it's still bright enough to see a decent image. In fact, whether you purchase this model or any other, I would say 150 should be the MINIMUM lumens you should consider. I personally, would not go any lower. The image still bright enough to see a movie with the shades pulled down. The pixels are also slightly better than those cheaper $50 models. I watched Godzilla, King of the Monsters last night, and I could even see the bags under Raymond Burr's eyes plain as day. Background images were also crystal clear, and still held a lot of detail.Third and most importantly, most of the $50 models have a contrast of just 300:1. This one is twice as good at 600:1. Many of the models I saw on You Tube had a contrast of 500:1, and again if you buy this model or any other, 500:1 should be your minimum. The videos I saw with good pictures had at least this level of contrast. And to repeat, this model's contrast is 600:1, slightly better than those models. Now that I got that learning process out of the way, here are some other considerations: While this image is awesome, and very clear, it is not quite up to our modern HD flat screen TVs. In fact, I don't think any model of projector can give you that feel of jumping out into your living rooms, like those high brand televisions. But for me, they still lack that home theater experience of having a movie projected onto a screen. Also, the speakers are not bad, but I still hooked mine up to a Classic 1980s stereo. In fact, even the highest end $1000 models have sucky speakers, and if I had one of those, I'd still hook it up some sort of stereo system. It just gives you a better all around theater experience. And one last thing about why I chose this particular model. The place I chose to place my projector, was pretty close to the screen. In the specs for this model, it states that it can be projected in as little as 1.5 meters away. This is pretty close compared to other models, and is another consideration you should have when deciding to purchase a projector at all. In my case worked out very well. This model also has keystone adjustment, to change the shape of the image for the angle you are projecting it to.It also has all of the hook-ups even the cheapest models contain, and I've tested most of them. They all work wonderfully. HD connection is great, the USB input recognized a variety of file types, and the AV connections all work perfectly. Again, this is about the best thing you can find on a small budget, and would highly recommend it over the cheaper models. If, unlike me, you need a projector for Power Point presentations, I think you will be stuck with one of those $300 to $500 models, but if you look hard enough you can even find one of those USED for around $150, if you look long and hard enough. But if you just want to watch movies in your home or backyard, spend the extra $50 over the cheapest models and get this or a similar model. The slight improvements in lumens, contrast, and pixels is well worth the extra money. I'm glad I purchased this model, and would recommend it to anyone who wants a home theater experience.

... I was looking forward to getting a projector with great quality for the size and price
When I read the reviews for this I was looking forward to getting a projector with great quality for the size and price. Unfortunately I am upset with the quality. It is not terrible, and for the price it's ok, but most of the reviews made this sound like it had exceptional quality for the price. A few even said they use it for a home theatre, which I don't believe this is good enough quality for. I am a college student with a small amount of money to use on things like this, which is why this appealed to me. I think it will work fine in my dorm, but as a family entertainment center this would drive me mad.The image is fairly pixelated, and I have found it impossible to make it 100% clear due to the pixels being very visible. Small print is impossible to read. 150 lumens is very dim light, but if it's dark in the room it's not a huge issue. It is also very small, which isn't really a problem, but it was smaller than I expected. The fan isn't terribly loud, and the built in speaker is surprisingly good as well. There is an AUX port to plug in speakers which is very nice.Overall this is an okay product, but don't be expecting quality comparable to a small TV. This is good for the price, but I find myself wishing I had spent a little more money for better quality. Anything cheaper you may find here I'd say stay away from because this is as low quality as you'd want to go. I give it four stars only because it was $80-ish dollars, and I can't beat that as a college student.

No need for a tv thanks to this.
With our Roku Streaming Stick attached to it, we can watch netflix and amazon instant video (where we have our favorite tv shows and movies we can access through our account) on our living room wall like a big screen tv. And since our living room isn't so huge, the picture is very big and nice. And with the room dark, the picture shows up real nice. I put my old computer speakers and an old subwoofer that I hooked up on it, to give that movie theater sound. Although, with out the speakers, it's still pretty loud. The speakers make it boom, especially when I'm watching the flash or an action movie. I fell in love with projectors and roku sticks together after our first one. That was a roku projector from 3M (the company discontinued the roku projector department.. I called). So, I searched and took a chance on this one. So glad. No need for a tv for us, with this.

For $90 it's worth getting
Works pretty good, only reason it's a three is it has to be completely dark to work. Once the sun goes completely down its has been great for outside movies.
