0 to 18% Brix Hand Held Rhino Refractometer with Automatic Temperature Compensation, with Low Sugar Fruits, Maple Sap, Vegetable Juice,Cutting Liquids Test

For the money, I am impressed! I mixed up a new batch of coolant (Hangsterfer's 5080) at 6% concentration, via graduated containers and some math. I calibrated the meter (zeroed with the water I used for the batch), then put 3 drops of mixed coolant on the prism, and clearly read the correct value. This type of coolant has a Correction Factor of 2X, meaning, whatever a refractometer displays, multiply times 2. The meter displayed 3%, so multiplying times 2 = 6%... spot on. If you play around with the angle your light source is coming from, the line/reading becomes super clear. For modern CNC coolants, the needed range caps at about 12%, so I like the 0-18% range, which makes the lower numbers larger and easier to read, compared to a 0-32% scale.Also, I liked the kit, and the case. The case has what's called 'living hinges' which last far longer than the cheap bending creases you normally see on cheap plastic cases, which always tear eventually, especially if cold. And, I like that the unit is branded.

Overall great value considering the price point. I use this daily and it can be difficult to get a real clear line, especially if you don’t have tons of light, but all in all it does the job.Also love the hard case - big bonus. Most refracs have the soft zipper cases which can cause the refrac to get damaged.

I bought 4 of these. I use them for calabrating. ( Brix ). Juice, Icee froster, Coke, and Glycol for beer recirculating system. The hard case is nice feature. The zipper case is crap.

I'd like to drink tea and wine, but I cannot eat too much sugar.This meter is matched my demands very well. I find it easier to use and read.

I bought this product because of seeing other good comments on this brand.  I have used it for more than two weeks and very satisfied.
