About the Author Ayatollah Sayed Mortadha al-Hussaini al-Shirazi hails from a long line of religious scholars, his father being the late religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayed Mohammad al-Hussaini al-Shirazi. He was born in 1964 in Karbala, Iraq and currently lives in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq. He teaches a number of higher level classes in Islamic Law, Legal Theory, and Qur’anic Exegesis at the Seminary of Najaf.
