Absolutely the best microwavable heating pad for the neck and shoulders. The pad fits perfectly around the neck and lays nicely on top of the shoulders. One thing is I wish it had an enclosure where each piece meets in the front of the neck to secure. It isnt a necessity but I personally would like that. Pad stays in place. Exceptional quality. Comfortable, not to heavy. Same quality as the ones in my physical therapy office I go to. Scent is not strong, just enough for perfect relaxation. Stays warm for 20- 30 minutes. Do not ever overheat any brand of these pads because you think the pad will stay warmer longer. You can burn the pad or yourself. The filling inside these pads can only hold heat for a certain amount of time no matter who you buy them from. I havent tried it cold yet. I'm going to buy one for my lower back. Also to clean just wipe with disenfectant wipes. I'm on my feet all day at work and my neck and shoulders hurt so bad. This product has made an amazing difference by stopping the pain, soreness, muscle cramping and stiffness!! Thank you for an exceptional product!!

This is exactly what I was looking for after my previous one bit the dust. I spend my days typing at a computer and carry stress in my shoulders and neck, I look forward to using this each evening! This wrap is nice and heavy which I believe adds to the comfort/relaxation and it stays put when walking around. I fold it in half and microwave it for about 2.5 minutes and it stays warm for 15-20 minutes, then I repeat the process if necessary. It's not immediately hot to the touch when you pull it out of the microwave, but once it sits on my shoulders for awhile the heat radiates and feels incredible. It also smells divine! While not a heavy scent, it is very light and relaxing. The fleece is soft and it seems to be made very well, no loose stitches that I can see. Ladies, this is also great for those miserable few days of the month when placed on the lower abdomen... :)

If you're a smaller person and your soreness is mild, this may work for you. If you're an active person really trying to help your neck, shoulders, and back out, this probably won't help much. The product is not small, but it won't be quite big enough for a lot of people. I'm a 5'10" male and I definitely wish it reached farther down my back. If you're in your mid 5's or lower, the size is likely fine. The weight of the product feels really good, and it will stay where you want it to stay. This product retains neither heat or cold for very long. You can have it in your freezer over night and the cold will disappear in a handful of minutes. In fact, for both heat and cold, the instructions that come with the product claim it is only good for 1.5 to 2 minutes. Claimed cooling time is 2 hours in the freezer and 60 seconds in the microwave (but you must wait 12 minutes before heating again). In my experience, the cold seems to last somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes (I usually have the product in the freezer over night, which is where I store it) and the heat seems to last around the advertised 2 minutes. One side of the product has a much softer fabric. I assume that side is intended to rest on the skin. That side is never hot and never cold. It's not a big deal because you can use the other side, but it's pointless to have that side covered with that fabric. The company that sells this product seems to be a genuinely nice company. The product is packaged with a nice note. It is also packaged with instructions. The instructions are printed on a thicker paper (like poster board) for durability. I've not contacted their customer service, but based on the rest of my experience I'm going to assume their service is good. As previously stated, if you're a smaller person and your soreness is mild, you may find this product useful. If you're an active person and really trying to help your muscles, this isn't the product for you. I was going to rate the product a 3, but I've rated the product a 4 because it does not advertise itself for athletes or very active people. It is probably helpful for its intended demographic.

This product is fantastic and precisely what I was searching for. There were many other options, but the rave reviews on this one sold me. I'll start with the design....it warms both shoulders and neck all in one swoop, great for relieving stress tension, or in my case a pinched nerve and a shoulder problem. I'm old, I'm falling apart - but I use this several times throughout the day (warm) for excellent relief of my symptoms. The design leaves me able to actually walk around with it draping over the shoulders the way it does, and sitting upright in my office chair for work. Other neck wrap styles I've had in the past left me with having to stay put and propped on the couch, I was very pleased when I received this and tried it to find that I could go about my day and move around. I've even clipped it in the front and have been able to reach & bend for instance doing laundry! I'd also like to make mention that the seller has been exceptionally pleasant, I've reviewed the seller separately but thought I'd mention here as well. Other reviewers make note of the smell of the rice with this product, it was very noticeable at first for me but did not bother me, I've had perfumed ones in the past and didn't like them, I'll take the faint scent of rice any day. This actually is fading a little more with each use anyway, but if you do prefer a scent, there are instructions included in the purchase for aromatherapy use with essential oils. UPDATE: I am here FOUR years after I first bought this thing. I have not had the burning/fire problem people seem to be describing. In addition to muscle pain I use this thing for cramps and gas on my abdomen. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT, four years later even. I'm recovering from whiplash so the variety of shapes this wrap can do is super helpful. I can drape it down over my upper back, wrap it up higher around my neck, or use it over my shoulders. This wrap is so much more useful than the previous neck wrap I was using. I really love this thing, and would recommend it to anyone. I even bought a second one for someone I know with neck issues who saw me using this one. Great color, texture, and quality. It's also nice to support a small business. I haven't tried it frozen or with moist heat yet, only dry heat. One thing to note: I bought this wrap because in the reviews someone said it has no smell. That's not accurate - it smells like the rice contents. I don't mind it though... it's not a strong smell. And I think if you buy a wrap that contains a food product it is most likely going to smell like it. Conclusion: Highly recommend, already bought 2, would buy again!

My wife has an elaborate Electric shoulder massage/heater. It cannot compete with this Amazon shoulder heater that heats in the microwave. I can pop it in the microwave for two minutes and it gives me about 30 minutes of warmth. I can place it underneath a fleece pull over and zip up the pull over and it forces the pressure on the heating pad to provide a wonderful sensation of “deep” muscle warmth. I had to re-order a second one because I had mistakenly put the original one in the washing machine and ruined it. I am 69 years old and I do a lot of resistance training with my back and shoulders using “The Total Gym”, advertised by the martial artist, Chuck Norris. It’s sooths my sore shoulder muscles when I have waited three days to exercise and then I tax my “senior citizen” muscles to the point of soreness. This heating pad is wonderful and I highly recommend it. Don’t make a mistake like me and put it in your laundry bag by mistake and ruin it by washing. The instructions clearly state do not wash in a machine.

Bought this item for shoulder pain that can be mild to severe. Had to put it in my small microwave for about 3 minutes before it got hot. It gave off a rather unpleasant smell after removing it from the microwave. It says you can put essential oils on it to help with this. I have no essential oils laying around and it didn't come with any. It wasn't really that warm when I took it out, but it was comforting. Maybe held its heat for about 10 minutes and then started to drop off. Had the wrap in the freezer for about 12 hours. Surprisingly wasn't really that cold when I took it out. Felt more cool than cold. Cold therapy part definitely could have been better. I'd say the heating part works better. It is a great design and fits over the shoulders pretty well. It's a little heavier than I thought it'd be, but wasn't that bad. I do like it, but not sure it'll work that well for someone with severe pain...well it didn't for mine. Probably work well for someone with minor or aches. Not crazy about the smell it gave off. I know a lot of similar wrap have had this issue, but wasn't expecting it with this one since I didn't notice it in any of the other reviews. I'll probably keep it, but thought it'd work and smell better for me.

Ordered after I saw my massage therapist with one. I would go as far as to say this is a life-changing product. My only note is while the directions say it can be warmed directly from freezer storage, it does not get as warm as I would like with the standard 2 minute microwaving time. To avoid damaging the product, I've resolved this by removing it from the freezer ~30 minutes before putting it in the microwave for heat therapy. I thought about putting it in the microwave for a longer time, but since that is not mentioned in the directions, and I want to keep this in tip-top shape, I figured letting it get closer to room temperature before microwaving is a sustainable solution. I've used it cold on swollen and tender pectorals after an especially intense massage therapy session. After chugging water and wearing the shoulder wrap frontwards and backwards until it reached room temperature, my muscles were no longer "angry." Overall I am very pleased with my neck and shoulder wrap--it has exceptional quality and I would go even further and say it is not only physically therapeutic but mentally therapeutic as well. I've taken to using it for heat therapy every night before bed--being sure to have a layer of clothing between the wrap and my bare skin. It's like a lullaby for my muscles and allows me to let go of the day, focus on the comfort, and gently slip into a wonderful night's sleep.

This heating pad for neck and shoulders is great! Good quality, nicely made, comfortable to wear, retains the heat longer than expected and I like its weight. Love the 4-in high collar to warm up my neck. I use it 15-20 min at a time. Happy that it's made in N. America and doesn't contain harmful chemicals. Also feels good to encourage local businesses. The package included a note form the maker, nice ultimate touch showing respect and offering assistance if there was any issue related to the heating pad. Have only used it for heat therapy so far. Good purchase and would buy again.

Love this neck & shoulder heat bag, I broke my neck C2 and although very very lucky I’m not paralysed I am still recovering trying to get my head moving and in constant pain, this wheat bag offers lovely heat to surround the back and sides of my neck offering temporary warmth and a sensation of relief.

I love this... I am using it regularly to help with pain in my neck and shoulder. I have arthritis and a slipped disc and would recommend it to anyone with similar pain. It is quite heavy but for me this is not a problem. I queried the need to keep the heat pad in the freezer in between uses, the seller came back to me saying as it was rice product it was not necessary to freeze it. I love it!
