The main box stays on the tree and the front cover slips off for easy access to the camera. Very well designed and easy to use. The holes for the lock are big enough to accommodate any size lock and it is protected from the weather by tabs at the bottom of the box. I use them in all kinds of conditions and my locks are never frozen with this safe. They attach with lag bolts to any wooden surface. I like to weld a chain to mine and chain it to a tree. This safe works great for bears and thieves!
