You get what you pay for - we have used it for years happily
We have had our original PL4A laminator for over a decade. It's in great shape and has tirelessly produced 1000s of luggage tags for us at trade shows. I wonder how they stay in business if they don't build crappy products that break in 6 weeks as almost every appliance/goods we purchase has degraded to. (We actually did have to replace the unit after the very first time we used it when some yahoo stuck his plastic trade show badge in thinking it was a badge scanner and it melted and gummed up the unit. We now have a warning sign on the laminator for the common-sense impaired)Our business has expanded and we needed to order a second unit, and since we fly with these to trade shows I decided to ignore my better judgment and the reviews already posted here and also try the *lighter weight* GBC Heatseal H110 4.5 inch laminator - along with ordering a new unit from http://www.amazon.com/Office-Supplies-PL4A-HeavyDuty-Laminator/dp/B001CMRUPI/ref=pd_sbs_op_2. We don't get out much, so we were very excited to try them side-by-side to produce a large batch of tags for cases & luggage going on our next tour.We were happy to find the new PL4A has not diminished in quality since we last purchased over a decade ago. This AMERICAN MADE beauty is as solid as she was 15 years ago when we first bought it. We ordered it from Oregon Laminator and it came very quickly and was packaged properly. Inside was a note from the inspector that it had been tested. We plugged them both in and started our test with 10 tags in the PL4A - and it zipped right through them as it has since 1995. Not the GBC Heatseal H110! We didn't bother to finish after the 7th tag - they either jammed on exit and curled excessively from the heat, or they bubbled and curved. As they cooled, they did not again go flat.As many of the other reviewers state: the GBC is only good for making tags for your teenager's gym bag. Not something you want to use to turn a client business card into a luggage tag gift while on site at a show or meeting. Do you want to hand your client a luggage tag with badly curled and crimped edges from consistently getting stuck in the machine? I didn't think so. Buy the unit that may be heavy and ugly on the outside - but is a beautiful product made by Americans that still have jobs.

Great Product
The Laminator came faster than expected and works great. Would recommend this laminator to anyone who is laminating their own badges.

Made in America!
I am a small biz owner, and I am willing to spend a few more dollars for a higher quality product that is "Made in America." Look around some, and you can purchase this product for about 25% less.
