Product Description From the Swiss firm that first introduced luxury audio fidelity for iPod systems comes the new GenevaSound S - bringing great sound, style and simplicity to the bedroom, kitchen, office and more. GenevaSound S sounds better and does more than any single-function iPod dock on the market, some of which cost 30% to almost 100% more. With more features than single-function docks, GenevaSound S includes the new PowerDock connector, new TouchLight controls, and a digital radio tuner with alarm clock. TouchLight controls are invisible until a hand reaches for the cabinet. Not just eye-catching, it offers extensive control of the iPod menu. (Competitors have limited iPod controls.) When the iPod/iPhone is removed, the motorized PowerDock spins closed and the protruding iPod/iPhone 30-pin connector, a sensitive part, disappears into the cabinet, protecting it from damage and dust. GenevaSound S also comes with a table stand, allowing the user the choice of elevating the system, so it takes up less space on a nightstand, a counter or a desk. The digital radio and programmable alarm make it the best-sounding, simplest iPod clock radio ever, a product segment littered with low-fi sound and eyesore design. It's the first with solid stereo sound and fine design lines. From the Manufacturer An all-in-one system with two full-range 3" drivers and two bass ports for surprising punch. impressive
I first noticed this product at Design Within Reach, a furniture store in my neighborhood. I was originally intrigued by the remote, of all things. A simply designed, easy to use, aesthetically pleasing accessory matching the simple, but elegant design of the unit. I tested the 2 units in the store, a medium and large version of this product, and they both sounded amazing, yet for $699, and $999, respectively, far too expensive for what is essentially an iPod docking station w/ CD player.Happy to learn that a smaller, non-cd playing version was available for $299, a more reasonable price that I now realize is something of a steal. The sound quality is quite good, especially for a small or medium sized room. Surprisingly, while not as high powered as its medium or large counterpart, there isn't a remarkable corresponding reduction in fidelity. Clear, crisp and treble and bass controls actually accomplish a meaningful change in overall sound impact. I am hardly an audiophile, but I have noticed the shockingly poor sound quality of standalone docking stations available at Apple (!) & most other retailers. Apple, which trades in design ingenuity and above all simplicity, offers a bewilderingly bad (and small) array of stereo choices: something resembling a tiny CAT scan-looking machine which sounds tinny, and not something that would look impressive on any shelf. Or, another unit that looks like a bird feeder tray with a tiny speaker stranded in the middle. The stereo is a fine looking addition to my home and there is nothing on the market that comes close to its design. The lacquered box is brilliant, and looks wonderful in the room, without dominating it. Like the product it is designed to support, it is cleanly made and clutter-free.A couple of complaints: while the remote is simple to use, I am wondering why the manufacturer chose not to include a menu button for changing the playlists, etc. The menu option is only found on the device itself, and it is far more expedient to just use the iPod controls. Would have also liked to have seen a sleep timer on this thing, even though I would rarely use it. Also, military time as the only option? Really? Finally, a unique complaint. The play wheel makes a satisfying (some have said annoying) clicking noise exactly like the 1st gen Nano iPods used to do when moving about the playlists. Unfortunately, my cat has discovered the play wheel and likes to manipulate the thing while the iPod is playing to generate the clicking noise. I am hoping he tires of it- at $299 this is an expensive cat toy...Overall, this is one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon, and I really am pleased with it.

Great Size, Elegant, Eye Catching, and a Dichotomy
This is for use in my office, replacing my small Marantz HiFi, and Polk speakers. This little speaker does sound good at medium volume to higher volumes. Tiny and anemic at low volumes (those acceptable at the work place). The unit is quirky, and very eye catching. Really gets the comments. Would have preferred the M, but just expensive for my budget and needs.Pros: Beautiful, very high build quality, quirky controls, the red is deep and lustrous. The touch controls are really very cool, and work quite well. Really like the touch to control volume. Sound at medium to higher volumes really is full and sounds great for the size. Built in FM radio.Cons: even though I love this unit, it has some limitations you should be OK with before buying. Sound at lower volumes is weak and washed out, very underwhelming for a quality product from a good company such as GenevaSound, they dropped the ball on this. The low end just disappears. Controls are quirky, so be prepared to realign your default thoughts, not hard just different (for instance presets on radio are "A", "B",...). Radio is FM only, and not very strong. The supplied antenna do come off, which works well. I find that I am much happier with a HD Tuner attached as an accessory, vastly better sound, and coverage. The remote does not seem to match the build quality. So my cons exceed my Pros, which is a pause, because I really do like this unit, and use it daily. The sound quality issues do not seem to exist on the M, so if the price of the M doesn't prove to be a problem, you probably will be much happier with it. If the cautions above do not deter you, and you want a smaller form factor, then this unit is a joy.

Great Sound for a Small Device, but not enough
I've owned a Bose Sounddock and Harman/Kardon Go+Play. Love the sound on both of those. The GenevaSound Small is impressive for a small speaker (smaller than both speakers I've owned), but it just wasn't enough. I tried it in my office and in my bedroom at home. If you're close it sounds great, but it doesn't fill the room like these other two speakers.I returned the Small and have ordered the GenevaSound Large, which I think will be better for my needs. Don't be convinced that the small can fill a space with good audio like the Sounddock or Go+Play. It's impressive, but more along the lines of a very, very nice clock radio.

amazing look and sound.
It looks amazing and its sounds amazing. What else could you ask for? IT's simple to use and small enough to fit in a side table, yet impressive.

A Decent Piece of Equipment
The product has nice comtemporay design and does what it says. The sound quality is decent provided that you are not a phonophile. In fact, the sound quality is in my opinion one of the better ones in that price category. In addition to using it as my iPhone or iPod speaker or FM radio, I added a 3.55mm cable and turned it into my computer speaker as well. I have no complaint about this product.

Work of art
I am an audiophile, and when it came time to purchase my 9 year old daughters first "Real" music system, the typical fair would simply not due. The GenevaSound HiFi is simply brilliant. And I mean simple. From the outside, it is a post modern minimalist sculpture sitting on an aluminum pedestal, but turn it on, and it comes alive with terrific quality natural sounding music. It oozes quality in every way, and the motorized iPod dock that hides when not in use is a nice touch. I can't recommend GenevaSound enough. Now they just need to incorporate AirPlay....

Nice eye candy but a Bose system sounds better. I do like the fact that it has a radio. With the cost of a Bose, you would think it would have AM/FM capabilities.
