They look Professional
I bought this version even though I do not have a laser printer. The price was right.(;))... The results look professional. People ask where we had them made. They work great, I just printed the name badge on standard paper with an inkjet printer to fit inside the space of the badge and cut it out by hand.Since I did not use their software so the OS does not matter. I used MS Word and Power Point to get the size right. With open office and/or a picture editor the same could be done. Note that I turned on all the rulers, so I could size to the target output.I did the quick and simple for me. For those that want a more strait forward answer and know about mail merge select "Avery White Address Labels for Inkjet Printers 8160, 1" x 2-5/8" inside of the either MS Word or Open office. The real size listed is 1" x 3", being off by 1/8 on an inch is no big deal. One advantage of using an inkjet printer was I could print in color at very low cost. Another is that if the badge is left in the heat the printout does not bond to the plastic cover as a laser printout will. If you do not plan on changing the badge that is a non-issue.Just being able to buy these parts at this cost was better then all the other options I looked at.Some words of warning, it is noted on the package the magnets are strong enough to cause issues with a pacemaker and small parts choking hazard for little ones.

Terrible Directions
The written directions left steps out and were impossible to follow. I left a message with customer service and had to wait a week to get a return call. I was finally able to create the badge using my own work-around but it was a very frustrating experience.

Great solution for small offices
Extremely easy to use -- print on the enclosed tabs or use your own paper or cardstock and trim to fit. These are a great option for an office that can't afford engraved name tags. They look professional and are very easy to change if an employee changes names or positions.
