The Soft Shell Jacket combines second-skin protection with the high degree of functionality one would expect of a tactical piece. The body is made of a four-way stretch nylon/spandex blended fabric bonded to hydrophobic polyester fleece. A high collar protects the neck from the elements, and a full zip front entry allows this jacket to come on and off easily. Inset sleeve pockets, two on each sleeve, stretch as the wearer moves. Zippered hand pockets are made with mesh pocket bags to give stored objects the chance to breathe and air out. These pockets are finished on the interior so the wearer can stuff whatever extra gear they’ve got into a safe place. The stow-away hood, made of nylon rip stop, is made as minimally and as articulated as possible, fitting the head snugly, allowing a helmet to be placed over it. Pit zips provide for ventilation, ensuring the user’s comfort, and at 20”, users can vent however much they want, where they want. The sleeves include 2” x 3” Velcro patches to display any necessary badges. A dropped tail offers additional protection when crouching low.

Nicest cold weather layer I have.
This soft shell is perfect for my day to day ops. Beads rain well, but is still not a replacement for gortex. The arm pit zips are a big plus due to the fact they are so large and you can partially unzip them in the areas you want to. The material has been durable so far and effective in near single digit temps when layered with your ABU top and sand T. As for size I am 5-6, 165 ibs with about a 42-43 inch chest measurement and I bought a M. Now it fits perfect over a Combat Shirt at this size but it is a little tight and short if you use it over your abu and sand t. If you need more layers under the jacket I would need a size up. But this is exactly the size I like. If I needed to layer more I would put layers over the soft shell like gortex, or fleece.
