An Outstanding Resources for English Students, Teachers, and Word Lovers
Why is English such a difficult language to master? While many English teachers will claim the frequent disconnect between sound and spelling is the problem, English Idioms in Use (Advanced) illuminates how the widespread use of colorful phrases and common sayings might pose greater hurdles for English language learners. This systematic, clear, and relatively concise textbook can be used as a course textbook in the rare idioms course or as an outstanding source for supplement lessons in advanced classes. International students and longtime immigrants will probably find it increases their understanding of many newspaper articles and casual conversations with native speakers. I would also suggest that English Idioms in Use Advanced with Answers deserves a place in the professional library of English teachers, EFL tutors, and English language trainers.

English Idioms in Use
The book is awesome, as many other books by Cambridge. There are simple yet useful explanations on how to master the most important idioms in English. Plus, lots of exercises make it even easier to master the idioms in a way you can recognize, remember and use them in suitable contexts. My compliments to the authors on this outstanting material. I'm eager to buy the other books from this collection.

Great lesson format!
Great format! Takes about 30min to go through the lesson and built in homework. Perfect small chunk to round out a curriculum. One caution is that this is a British book, so if you are teaching American English you'll want to point out expressions that aren't used in the US and maybe their equivalencies.

Excellent for advanced English learners
I teach English as a foreign language and I bought this to use with advanced students. I am very pleased with it. I like the way that idioms are broken down into different topic areas e.g. sailing idioms, which includes idioms such as "taken aback", "all hand on deck" etc. The explanations are clear and the exercises are logical and relevant. I am sure that I will find it very useful.
