Painting Miniatures for the American Civil War (Crowood Wargaming Guides) Paperback – March 5, 2019

This book is an excellent primer on painting figures. The various techniques discussed and demonstrated are perfect for painting the ACW figures. This is one of the best books, I have ever read, for discussing miniature painting.

I’m very satisfied with my purchase of this book. It contains different techniques and tips that have helped me enjoy my hobby of painting 28mm Civil War figures.

The pics of the painted figures were not impressive

Good strong by step instruction with overviews of multiple methods. My favorite part is the horse painting section. Excellent photography with the detail you need to understand the subject. Great book!

Well written and easy to read. This is a must for miniature wargamers, and military modelers. It may be of interest to American Civil War aficionados, re-enactors, and military historians.

Wonderfully illustrated guide to painting American Civil War miniatures. A great guide to modeling infantry, cavalry and artillery troops for both Union Federals and Confederates.

Standardmaltechniken die in jedem anderen Guide auch gefunden werden können. Wer hier auf Besonderheiten des amerikanischen Bürgerkrieges hofft wird enttäuscht.3 Sterne für die Qualität eines Standartwerkes, das auf verschiedene Pferde eingegangen wird rettet das Buch für mich.

bought this to use, as the name suggests, as a guide for painting some ACW models. This book contains excellent step by step guides to models in a range of scales and using several techniques as well as very clearly setting out appropriate colours to use in each stage.the book covers both Union and Confederate infantry, a guide to painting horses in several styles, artillery and also buildings. Guides starting with basic model prep all through basing providing a very comprehensive guide aimed at those assembling forces for wargaming in a range of scales which is in many ways a lot more useful than a guide aimed at producing display models.there is even a section on converting models.all in all very impressed

This is a basic how to guide, has very little to do with army composition, regiments or anything meaningful. I have included a finished figure from the book! as illustration. Total waste of money. Sorry.

This book is nothing short of a complete disappointment. No really useful information in the book and a very basic standard of painting throughout. Complete waste of money.
